As Kansas City starts to demolish homes to make way for East Patrol, take a look at this video that reflects neighborhood and community protest regarding the use of eminent domain.
WATCH THE WENDALL PHILLIPS INFERNO CLIP THAT REFERENCES ARSON IN THE KANSAS CITY NEIGHBORHOOD SOON TO BE HOME TO THE NEW KCPD EAST PATROL!!!
A quote from the Youtube page . . .
"The City of Kansas City disrespects Black community with arbitrary eminent domain action against legacy stakeholders. Once the occupied property become vacant, the City allowed vagrants, vandals and thieves to come and strip property while residents were transitioning from the neighborhood; creating unsafe living conditions. They created a war zone. Kansas City destroyed a neighborhood for no other reason but to cater to an undeserving Preacher who had a desire to build a community center at taxpayer expense. Meanwhile, the community suffers in utter silence. Take a look at the damage. You can learn more at www.BlightMeKC.com."

This is sure worth a look.
ReplyDeleteI remember all the folks displaced in the 50s for the High Way 71 built only a few years ago.
There are consequences and weight in these decisions that affect folks for the rest of their lives.
Don't gimme wrong, we need more cops and more law enforcement in this area.
That said (And I certainly am not familiar enough to sugggest a solution or a criticism.), considering how the city has operated recently with regard to finances and the ballot box, the actions of this same city in this question are in no way above reproach.
I smell smoke.
Great video with Nina Simone's take on Strange Fruit. Whoever put that together has talent. Will check out BlightMeKC.com
ReplyDeleteNah, I would have gone with Ms Billie Holliday. She owned that haunting song.
ReplyDeleteI was looking at the time of some of the fires. around the time the Fire Department was kicking up shit about more staff and more money. Coincidence? perhaps. As solid a theory as the need for a blank slate to build on.
Well, this puts things into perspective. What can we do?
ReplyDeleteCall a mover, nothing is going to change in KC. Thank 3rd district councilman Jermaine Reed for this.
ReplyDelete"Disrespect the black community", my ass. Fuck NIGGERS and their stupid assed, so-called community. If they weren't such animals and didn't live like porch apes, then maybe and only maybe, could they pass for humans.
ReplyDeletewow, that video brought tears to my eyes. I'll get even more emotional when the "GreenDuck" becomes part of the KCPD after hours bar located at 26 and prospect. I also heard a few cops want to buy the bar and do some remodeling. That could bring in a couple full time jobs. See, the police care about their community. lol
ReplyDeleteThe fucked up part of that last comment is that I have heard it under serious discussion.
ReplyDeleteWhat's "fucked up" about it? This land is no longer yours. It's now occupied by the KCPD. Your leaders decided for you. Ha-ha! :p
ReplyDeleteagree.
ReplyDeletei want a piece of the green duck...
ReplyDeleteCan't say that the point wasn't made loud and clear. Hope they can get this cleared up soon.
