A BILLION dollars didn't seem to help KCPS.
ReplyDeleteNeed to fix the city before you can fix the schools.
ReplyDeleteThe schools suffer from the trickle down lack of leadership in City Hall.
But don't see City Hall getting fixed so kiss the schools and the whole city good bye.
mo money??? yas sah dis niggas need mo free money!
ReplyDeleteKansas City needs to demolish about 500 blocks to the East of Downtown, and start over. Disburse the residents. Abandon the "Black Power" City Council Districts. Repopulate Kansas City with educated, salary-earning, tax-paying, non-crime-committing residents.
ReplyDeleteKCPS needs fresh eyes and innovators, as well as a different governing board. However, it goes much deeper than that. The public schools simple reflect what's going on in the cities they serve. Communities with high crime, poverty, single parent homes will have the lowest performing schools, so there is only so much a district can do; especially when very few have any faith in the district. We need innovative leadership from experienced and passionate educators and community members. There are plenty of districts that have substantially improved their lowest performing schools, but it takes time, patience, fresh ideas, parental and community involvment, and yes, some money.
