A music legend who started and finished in Kansas City, Kansas recently passed away.

According to her manager, Marva Whitney died of complications from pneumonia in her Kansas City, Kansas home. Her autobiography, God, the Devil & James Brown: Memoirs of a Funky Diva is set to be published later this year.
