We start this Sunday with best wishes for Kansas City Mayor Sly James on his 60th B-Day.
Social media alerted us to this happy occasion and the Mayor's Wikipedia page provided confirmation.
Mayor Sly hasn't made many visits to Kansas City's Westside for any reason beyond the merely ceremonial but if he showed up today we'd sing Las Mañanitas for him and hope that he'd share his smile with this neighborhood that he's mostly forgotten.

LET'S REMEMBER THAT KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTERS BROKE NEWS REVEALING THAT MAYOR SLY WOULD REALLY LIKE CAMPAIGN CASH FOR HIS B-DAY!!!
I guess Kansas City's Mayor asking for B-day money isn't out of character for this town.
In the two years since Mayor Sly has been in office he has given Kansas City:
- Higher Taxes
- A Seriously Damaged Bond Rating
- And A Legislative Agenda That's Almost Completely Focused On Toy Trains And Eco-Devo Work While Completely Overlooking Public Safety.
So, while most Kansas City residents don't have $100 to be "friends" with Mayor Sly on his B-Day . . . I'm hoping this TKC Tribute makes this day just a bit more special for Kansas City's Mayor and possibly brings (yet another) smile to his face.
