Today there was a rather heartwarming retirement ceremony @ KCPD Headquarters.
Sgt. Ramona Arroyo retired from the KCPD after 32 years of service.
The afternoon was filled with great stories about Sgt. Arroyo's service her friends and even a few choice Spanish idioms she shared with colleagues as one of the first bi-lingual members of the KCPD.

Most of the speakers noted that Sgt. Arroyo broke ground @ The KCPD and she would be missed as a member of the force. There was also a few comments about the dept. striving for diversity and what that has meant over the years.

Sgt. Arroyo's words seemed to sum up the ceremony nicely as she asked "her guys" from Central Zone to stand and share this final part of her ceremony with her as she choked up a bit . . .
"This department is like a family. And (at times) all families can be dysfunctional. But in the end, like a family, it's important to know that we are there for each other. And that's what I want to leave people with - Be nice to each other. Because we are a family and it's important that we're nice to one another so we can encourage more people to work with us and support one another. Be nice."
Sgt. Arroyo will continue as reserve officer and plans to remain active in her Westside Sacred Heart faith community as well.
Speaking of, it was a really nice event.
ReplyDeleteWell guess she won't have to do the siren gig for sure.
ReplyDeletelol.
ReplyDeleteHow come you don't cover the white people retiring?
ReplyDeleteHow many bad guys did she kill during her career?
ReplyDelete9:19 PM
ReplyDeleteWhen white people retire their service does not count.
Actually, TKC did cover more than a couple of white people retiring.
ReplyDeleteBut when white people retire they haven't broken new ground. They're just giving up.
10:38 PM ---------
ReplyDeleteCould you name them I'd like to go back and read about it. I don't recall them if they were mentioned in this blog.
Walt Bodine. He's a white guy.
ReplyDeleteI think Dick Berkley is a TKC favorite too. He's retired and white.
Why are you so obsessed with white?
If that's what you want, you should know there were a lot of white guys at this retirement who spoke well of Ramona.
TKC probably blogged about her is probably because he knows her.
Get a grip.
Dick Berkley was a KCPD cop?
ReplyDeleteI'm talking about KCPD cops.
Get a grip. Please grow up. Go start a white guy blog and see how many people read it.
ReplyDeleteNice try Deputy Chief Sassy Britches.....
ReplyDeleteBut i don't need a "white" person blog....
I'm having too much fun reading black on black crime and KCPD failure to deal with it.
Get a grip.. hammerhead. Kansas City is going down the tubes because it refuses to be honest about the real issues facing the City.
This department is imploding because of people like Jason White
ReplyDeleteId say hundley, harvey, and forte are to blame. White, as a sgt, is irrelevant. Move past him.
DeleteHe's not irrelevant if he's a front line supervisor who doesn't know his shit! If he's as bad as they say then he is to blame too. He influences young officers in a negative way & makes their lives miserable. Imagine going to work everyday & working for a boss that doesn't have a clue. How long would you stick it out if you could go somewhere else and make more money in a better environment?
DeleteWas there an open bar?
ReplyDeleteCrappy photos.
ReplyDeletesomeone needs to learn how to use a camera.
True dat!
ReplyDeleteKCPD a disgrace to Kansas City.
ReplyDeleteWhere crime runs rampant and cops whine about their salaries.
Poor Performance deserves poor pay.
Does KCPD have a weight limit for officers?
ReplyDeleteLooks to me like all those Officers in the picture would fail based on height to weight ratios from life insurance companies.
dont forget about Ell and allen
