Ask around and a great many Kansas City residents will say that Susanna Lee/Lucky-Deluxe is one of the most brave and bold entertainers to ever perform in this town.

Last year Lucky moved to Los Angeles in order to take her burlesque and comedy routine to the next level. Since then she has been back to Kansas City on tour and I've noticed that her act has sharpened, her sense of humor is even more raw and she continues to be nothing less than a consummate pro on the stage.

But LA can be tough.

Lucky's blog is nothing less than fascinating and provides the very real details of life as a stripper and peep show performer while trying to pursue a bigger dream.

The blog is a breakthrough when it comes to "getting real" with her audience.

Sadly, not everybody agrees.

Lucky recently sent this message to TKC . . .

"My blog has now cost me an appearance on a very popular syndicated morning radio show. I'm pissed and frustrated . . . I just don't get it, the industry wants honesty, but then when I'm honest, they don't want it."

It's a shame really because Lucky is one of the most talented people I know and she's very deserving of exposure beyond a stripclub or peep show. Seriously, Lucky has now sharpened a 30 min set that's better than nearly all of the stand-up on Comedy Central or HBO.

Still . . . Lucky's honesty is a lesson about the troubles and travails of a life in showbiz from Kansas City to the Pacific. Credit her at least with having the courage to expose the details of her experience.
