THE FOOLISH BLACKOUT FAILS TO INSPIRE THE KANSAS CITY CHIEFS!!! FAILED TEAM EMBARRASSED 28-6 BY BENGALS!!!
It's probably too much to expect ignorant Kansas City Chiefs football fans to understand the principle of negative reinforcement but clearly today's "blackout" at Arrowhead didn't help the team break their losing streak that has tragically become part of local culture.
Think about it: Fan participation and t-shirt sales even in the abyss of an 1-9 season actually demonstrates the strength of the Chiefs brand or at least indicates that football fans are far too unimaginative to find a new hobby.
What was more embarrassing and really a bad sign was the stadium basically empty and the parking lot clearing out by the 3rd Quarter on a beautiful day. Once again, in Kansas City, people vote with their feet.
As far as the game is concerned, it's the same old story: Turnovers, mediocre players, horrible coaching and a basic lack of (money invested in) talent have doomed this team. Even worse, there's really not much incentive to change this cycle of FAIL.
Media and our political elite pushing tax breaks have conspired to keep the public ignorant about the real ponzi scheme nature of this Kansas City taxpayer pro-sports swindle.
The upcoming game against Denver looks to be brutal.
And so, as always, Lucy Collett is far more captivating than ANYTHING that happens at Arrowhead. This season was lost a long time ago. What's likely the most damaging aspect of watching the Kansas City Chiefs is that it might reinforce a feeling of helplessness among residents who might mistakenly believe that they only exist as powerless consumers - Effective branding has clearly fooled a great many people into identifying their civic pride with a meaningless game. Now, only corporate rhetoric, sports fanboy grifters and gluttons for punishment will participate in this farce disguised as local sport.
U silly.
ReplyDeleteLOL!
ReplyDeleteGive it a rest TKC. Nobody wants to talk taxes on Sunday.
ReplyDeleteSeveral thousand people fed their families from the jobs offered by Clark the Job Creator. Purveyors of black clothing, banner and sign supply salespeople, and the brown paper bag industry- all are BOOMING! Is it safe to dance?
ReplyDeleteThe Chiefs are to football what smegma is to foreskin.
ReplyDeleteFIRE PIOLI!
ReplyDeleteStop voting taxes in the direction of the sports complex ya dumb asses. In pro sports you vote with your dollars and I haven't seen one freaking TV blackout this season. As long as dumb asses are buying tickets, hot dogs and logo junk the Chiefs get a mandate to screw the pooch!
ReplyDelete$27 for parking, $10 for a hamburger, $6 for a coke, $4 for a little bag of fries, $5 for a cup of coffee. $8.50 for a hot dog.
ReplyDeleteAll actual prices seen at today's game. With prices like these, I can't imagine how they make any money. They're practically GIVING the food away. Good thing the city and county pay a $100+ million organization taxpayer subsidies. They might not be able to field a good team otherwise.
Oh, btw the place was a ghost town by the 3rd quarter. It was just crickets cheering. It was the quietest and smallest crowd I've seen there in years.
There's bigger attendence at Pop Warner games.
This team is FUCKED.
zzzzzzzzzz
ReplyDeleteThis blog puts me to sleep
ReplyDeleteTony spelled it out pretty well, I'd say. The fans are idiots and gluttons for punishment to continue to even drive by this joke of a stadium/ball club. Denver will stick it in their assess and make em like it...
ReplyDeleteThe sales on Chiefs apparel has actually taken a really hard hit. I read about it on KMBC a couple night ago, or maybe a different local news station. I've been trying to sell a really nice Chiefs coat with down filling for a couple months on craigslist and I haven't even received a single email. Also, I haven't seen very many people wearing red nearly as often as in the past; they're probably embarrassed to be seen in it lol.
ReplyDeleteKC Chiefs logo toilet paper would sell really well!!!!! Maybe each sheet would have a picture and bio of each team member.
ReplyDeleteThe chiefs fans that fell for the 5 year plan deserve this disaster of a team. As each of you continued to buy season tickets, parked, bought beer ad food and continued year after year supporting this team, you created this monster.Until each of you stop going to the game, the Chiefs will be to KC what the Royals are,a waste of time and money. Starting tomorrow, tickets should be 75% off, parking free, and food/beer 50% off until the Chiefs at least break .500. Also starting tomorrow, the coach, GM should be fired and Clark needs to take a leave of absence from managing the team
ReplyDeleteApparently the blackout want local. Saw it on tv.
ReplyDeleteThe blackout will WIN!
ReplyDeleteTony is right.
ReplyDeleteThe Cato institute is right too.

Tony is not right, because he is not a Chiefs fan to begin with. Those of us that love the Chiefs, and are season ticket holders, want the Chiefs to succeed. Our frustration with ownership over their inept approach in recent years is being expressed with the blackout. The sole purpose of the blackout isn't to chase the Chiefs out of town, as Tony wants. It is to tell ownership clearly how we feel about what they've done to OUR team, and hit them where they listen - their pocketbook. Having a half of a stadium empty, and the other half filled with 2/3 of the people wearing black, and having people who refrained from purchasing concessions (I took an empty plastic cup with me to drink water from the fountain), sends a message. I'm pretty sure ownership heard. Pioli, Crennel, and crew will be gone at the end of the season.
