TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY URBAN CORE DIVISION OVER UPCOMING STL LOCAL CONTROL VOTE!!!

The local control effort in STL is creating more than a bit of community division because it's clear that KANSAS CITY IS NEXT.

To wit . . .

NOTICE DIFFERENT COMMUNITY INTERESTS IN KANSAS CITY NOW STARTING TO COMPETE AND RAISE IMPORTANT QUESTIONS ABOUT THE CONSEQUENCES OF PROP A!!!

Example . . . This question echos a great deal of community concern from TKC TIPSTERS as well . . .

"The St. Louis NAACP and other ST. Louis groups DO NOT want the STL police dept. ballot measure to pass. Why is Freedom Inc. going against the wishes of the St. Louis NAACP and other STL community based organizations?"

Again, there is ANYTHING BUT CONSENSUS on local control that's soon to come to Kansas City if/when the STL effort passes. Police rank & file seem to oppose the measure along with a great many people who know anything about how the local government really works.

Now . . . "Jobs with Justice" is a pretty big deal in Kansas City and this email blast details their stand against the STL ballot measure backed by Rex Sinquefield and more than a few unwitting supporters . . . Check it:

Missouri Municipal Police Amendment (Local Control), Proposition A - Jobs with Justice has supported local control of the St. Louis City Police Department, collective bargaining rights for police officers, and a civilian review board for our neighbors for over a decade.

However, the current ballot initiative proposing local control of the police unnecessarily undermines the power of a civilian review board and threatens good community/police relations.

Therefore we endorse a NO vote on Prop A, but continue to support other efforts to return control of the St. Louis City Police Department in a way that protects the rights of our police force and our neighbors by protecting collective bargaining rights for officers and the establishment of a civilian review board for our city. Proposition A

Official Ballot Title:

Shall Missouri law be amended to:

* Allow any city not within a county (the City of St. Louis) the option of transferring certain obligations and control of the city’s police force from the board of police commissioners currently appointed by the governor to the city and establishing a municipal police force;

* Establish certain procedures and requirements for governing such a municipal police force including residency, rank, salary, benefits, insurance, and pension; and

* Prohibit retaliation against any employee of such municipal police force who reports conduct believed to be illegal to a superior, government agency, or the press?

State governmental entities estimated savings will eventually be up to $500,000 annually. Local governmental entities estimated annual potential savings of $3.5 million; however, consolidation decisions with an unknown outcome may result in the savings being more or less than estimated.

  1. TKC, watch the margin on this vote. It's getting closer than most are reporting.

  2. As long as KCMO doesn't elect and the governor doesn't appoint people who have any interest in making public safety the high priority it should be, it doesn't make any difference how the boxes on the organizational chart are arranged or whose names are in them.
Form over function, and nothing more. And it has nothing to do with how the residents are served, as usual.
But WHO gets control, money, jobs, contracts, and all the rest? Now you're getting to the real core of the issue!

It was your White master Glorioso who came in to the Freedom offices and threw money around Tony. Ask him how it happened Tony, if you have any balls. Some of us were opposed. The $15,000 figure is correct Tony. It was your Kick Assed Tipster who did it Toney, and he is being paid $6,000 per month by Rex himself.

  8. I am sick and tired of reading criticism of Freedom Inc. selling endorsements when lilly-white groups like Westport Landing Democrats does the same thing. No one ever says a word about Dutch Newman and the payoffs she takes.

  10. the change in the law will allow police to cover up internal administrative investigations. that language is not obvious in the proposal.

    1. They already do that. This won't change anything.

  11. Local control is not a good thing. Mark my words, more people will suffer because of it. Crime will increase exponentially specifically because Kansas City will be overseeing itself. That means there won't be any checks and balances. Who loses when there are no checks and balances in government?

  12. 10/30/12 9:42 AM Let white people complaint about the Dutch. Black people need to complain about Freedom Inc selling out the community so that a certain family can remain employable. Check their last ballot... nothing but white endorsedments and how is that working out for the community. Just a few weeks ago they were talking about how terrible Claire McCaskil was now they're running around distributing her campaign literature. Which one is it: Claire is bad or good? This is the primary critisim. Claire is good when they can get a handout. When there's no handout she carries the mark of the beast... but only during election season. What a joke!

  15. some of them do. that's why this measure will hopefully fail.

  16. If KCMO can't control the fire department, why would we want them to control the KCPD?

    ReplyDelete
  17. We need local control. We pay for the PD, we should control them. Did anyone ever ask why only two cities in the country don't have local control?

We couldn't control the KCFD because we couldn't control that slimy lizard Louie Wright. FOP is no Local 42. If done correctly, local control will be a good thing. Get rid of the shit heads like Al Brooks on the police board.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Alvin Brooks certainly needs to go. He's a destructive little troll. He's 80 now. Let's hope we don't have to endure much more of him in the coming years.

Anyway, even with being able to rid the Police Board of him somehow he'll find a way to keep a manipulating hand in the cookie jar and that is dangerous. Just look at the East Patrol project that isn't. This was his idea and we have him on film admitting as much.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Release the film of Brooks claiming East Patrol was his idea.
