TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! KC APPROVES YET ANOTHER 18TH AND VINE EXTENSION!!!

The sound of Kansas City's MISMANAGEMENT of an entertainment district that has so much unrealized potential is not so sweet.

To wit . . . One of the MOST AWESOME TKC TIPSTERS tells us . . .

"18Th & Vine redevelopment gets it's 18th extension! Will this project ever get done?"

The exasperation revealed in this news item is important given that so many eco-devo schemes out of City Hall have simply FAILED to deliver on promises and this long standing disaster is STILL draining precious resources is no exception.

  1. Ah, is there a link for this?

  2. Tony, just because a "most awesome TKC tipster" tells you something doesn't mean that it's correct. And, if you ever bothered to do any amount of basic homework, you would've known that this was related to a private urban redevelopment corporation's request for a 6th extension of it's contract with the City, not an "eco-devo scheme out of City Hall." Better yet, you would've know that they had to ask for a 6th extension because of what certainly appeared to be a default under the terms of the contract. The problem isn't with the City (well, okay, the primary problem isn't with the City), it's with the private developer that can't - and never has been able to - perform. Denying this extension would've terminated the redevelopment contract and might have led to a more capable developer taking control of this failed effort.

Keep trying to explain it away grifters.

You just want more handouts to keep your scam going.

  5. A rail loop from Union Station/Crown Center would help.

  6. I think that's the point of the post. It's time to terminate the contract. Enough is enough.

How many handouts does the east side of KC want?

  9. "How many handouts does the east side of KC want"?
    The neverending story.
It's either because folks on the east side are all victims and deserve more services. Or because unless someone comes up with more bucks they'll be hearing from the "No justice, no peace" crowd.
Same old "leaders", same old stories, same old tactics.
And the successes can be seen by just driving around the east side.
The majority of the residents may be hurting, but the handful who runs the show is doing just fine.

    Mr. Tony,
That plan started in the early 1970's. It was voted on in 1979. My! how some things change then go back to the same old blighted thing! The plan has been revised a whole lot. They split it up at one time to make it easier to swallow. The current section in today's vote is indeed the 6th extension.

The museum anchors are worthwhile. Still and all, I think they should've moved the whole mess to the Union Station before the station became an office park.

  11. I think it is just wonderful how the city plans future crime zones. WOW! What a concept.

  12. Watched the P&Z hearing today. Idiot Jermaine Reed talked about what a happening place 18th and Vine is. Glover droned on (of course) about the development to come. These people are freakin delusional. More money into the 18th and Vine money pit.

  13. SHUT IT DOWN!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Not only should we "shut it down", it should be BURNT DOWN! It's a wasted, dangerous place, with no redeeming value at all.

  15. Make that area a 24hr open bar zone with constant live jazz, like the old days and watch it take off.
