TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! PROMO PLANE PUSHBACK!!! LAUNCHING THE TKC BOYCOTT AGAINST THE ROASTERIE!!!

In the course of human events there comes a time when neighborhoods must fight against Kansas City big biz infringing on the basic human right to live and breath free without being unwillingly inducted into a marketing scheme.

To wit . . .

IN RESPONSE TO A HUGE, UGLY PROMO PLANE BRAZENLY PLACED IN KANSAS CITY'S WESTSIDE NEIGHBORHOOD WITHOUT COMMUNITY CONSENT . . . TKC IS LAUNCHING A BOYCOTT AGAINST THE ROASTERIE!!!

These Top Five Arguments against the promo plane are justification for this IMPORTANT TKC BOYCOTT!!!

1. The Promo Plane was put in place without any meaningful conversation with neighbors.

2. If supporters of the plane and the Roasterie like it so much . . . Put it in your neighborhood. Fact is, there isn't any other part of the City where this promotional stunt would fly EXCEPT Kansas City's Westside that has been sold out by just about every elected official in this cowtown.

3. The TKC Roasterie Boycott will inspire Kansas City coffee aficionados to try other blends. May I suggest starting with Latte Land?

4. The Roasterie isn't investing in the Westside and their record of neighborhood employment is abysmal. There people are interlopers who have shown little regard for Kansas City's Westside with their intrusive, insulting and ugly marketing stunt.

5. The Rosterie can't have it both ways: The company touts fair trade practices in some South American jungle but then comes to the Westside and spits their marketing all over the sky and in the face of nearby residents. That kind of logic sputters and stalls when it comes to the critical thinking skills of Kansas City consumers. The Roasterie is showing nothing but their big, nasty tail end to the Westside and that kind of insult deserves a response and smackdown.

This one was hard for me because I really did like Roasterie coffee. But as I was enjoying a cup it occurred to me that this local company didn't care about my neighborhood enough to even really ask or involve the community in their schemes AND THEN the realization made the Roasterie coffee taste like motor oil to me. Seriously, the car wash next door to the place was more cognizant of nearby residents and at least sought to reassure neighbors that they would do the best to maintain their facility . . .

And so . . .

TKC ENCOURAGES KANSAS CITY RESIDENTS WHO CARE ABOUT NEIGHBORHOODS TO TAKE THEIR BIZ ELSEWHERE AND AVOID THE ROASTERIE UNTIL THE PROMO PLANE COMES DOWN!!!

For too long Kansas City biz has been riding high on the backs of neighborhoods and this is a good place to bring that misguided ideology to a well deserved crash landing.

Expect more Roasterie pushback regarding their Westside insult and complete disrespect for neighbors.

DEVELOPING . . .

  2. I'm sure no one in the westside cares. Slow news day?

    ReplyDelete
  3. not to mention that they held a launch party/press event on 9.11.12 "in celebration of 911". Offensive and very, very, uncool.

    ReplyDelete
  4. I thi.k i'll buy some of their coffee today.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Make mine a tall.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Don't have to communicate with neighbors? Maybe the bishop can build his dorm on the west side.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Roastarie coffee is muddy shit anyway.

I wish I could join your boycott T. But I would never buy their bargain rate dirt to begin with.

    ReplyDelete
  8. not to mention that they held a launch party/press event on 9.11.12 "in celebration of 911". Offensive and very, very, uncool.
    --------

So they are using 9-11 to sell their shit too?

What a bunch of fucking idiots.

Tony, launch a boycott over THAT and I'll join. 9 - 11 is not an excuse to sell over priced coffee that's for sure.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Your a total NUT CASE Tony. A lost cause if there ever was one. The more desperate you get the more obvious your flimflam becomes.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Who cares. The west side is a dump.

Okay, Tony. I will buy my morning cup across the street at Panera this morning but I'm not sure how long I can keep company with you on this one. Good luck amigo.

  14. Edward "Ed" Lillywhite Norton9/15/12, 8:57 AM

HAHAHAHAHA! Oh man this is the best comedy, laughs I've woke up to in a long time. Tony's now the Ralph Kramden of local media.

    ReplyDelete
  15. finally somebody gets Tony's humor AND he fixes his mistake before a spelling goon took him to the woodshed.

    U crack me up TKC.

    ReplyDelete
  16. TKC isn't playing the laughing boy. He's right that they would never do this in brook side. Doesn't your city have better neighborhood and zoning regulations TKC? they can't even build non beige houses in Overland Park. Maybe that is where you start instead of a declaration of war.

    ReplyDelete
  17. launched a PLANE celebration on 9.11 ??! Yup, that's world class marketing. Idiots.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Tony's sense of humor? Uh I think your off on that I think he's actually a certified nut case who believes his own bullshit at this point. That makes for good entertainment also.

    ReplyDelete
  19. tony is irrelevant. what is more pertinent to this conversation is that I once worked at the roasterie and I can tell you for certain that their coffee is muddy baby, it's muddy.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Obviously Tony isn't a businessman that explains his current level of success anyway. I guess Mom's house is his idea of being a medium sized business investing in his hood.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Just go for the quick trip coffee, the poor mans brew. That will teach the bastards who's boss.

    ReplyDelete
  22. They've been notified about Tonys rant and pretty much laughed like everyone else is.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Tony, have you ever considered learning a trade? Not sure show business is your bag. Maybe technical school, repair furnaces and stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Tony you are a douchebag. In my field, we call this type of stunt, " attention seeking behavior." Its often part of an underlying psychiatric disorder.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Mas cafe, por favor!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Jesus, SHUT UP!

    ReplyDelete
  27. You probably weren't around where there was a TWA airliner on main street, the theme of a bar.

I suppose that was the cause of Kansas City's downfall.

Fact is, you should be lauding it as some imagination and some corporate investment in the west side, which otherwise isn't far from looking like a ghetto.

Your weakling boycott isnt' so impressive because most Mexicans can't afford designer coffee and the city hall types you target to, ignore those kind of antics.

Be a SUPPORTER of the West Side. Talk about NEW restaurants and venues. ARE THERE ANY? Get the outside business over there, and maybe they'll rebuild and improve the UGLY lower-middle class look of the west side!

Moreover, you don't serve Latinos who congregate on the west side by suggesting that it remain looking like a Little Mexico lower class area!

Ones who have GOOD jobs, no doubt, move to JOCO, KCNorth, or KCSouth.

Meaningless boycotts just don't build pride, even if they give you something trashy to talk about.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Agree with 9:51. I'd love to have a DC-3 here in Waldo.

Someone needs their neighbor’s permission to do what hey want their own PRIVATE property…… OH I get it…… they can do whatever they want as long as they have your permission…… you libs crack me the fuck up! Have you ever listened to yourselves? Why don’t you all try getting along with others for a while? BTW…. I support a women’s right to choose…. HER OWN FUCKING LIGHT BULBS! See that is the problem with you libs, you don’t want freedom for everyone, you want freedom to make the rules for everyone else. IDIOTS!

Okay just rolled up and no boycott or people picketing out front. Coffee here is very good! Thanks for the lead! Nice plane!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I completely agree with Tony. Businesses located on the West Side should relate more closely to the character and values of the residents of the West Side. Like Royal Liquors.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Hey dimwit this place is even anywhere near your shack what the hell are you complaining about! Take some meds!

    ReplyDelete
  36. If it was me, I'd open up a Mexican restaurant nearby with an old airline motif. Plenty of people have worked here in aviation!

If the food's good, and there's not too much waiting, it'll be a success, if it's promoted.

You could do a lot to help the west side besides calling for boycotts! Ya might even get a lot of free lunches. Don't forget to take a picture or two. Like they do on Que Pasa which does a lot more for the Latino community than YOU DO!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Tony would be jacking it with excitement if the Guadalupe Center did this.

TKC Exclusive!!!! West Side Community center installs awesome historic aircraft on premises. Developing . . .

    ReplyDelete
  38. HEY!! JAN MARCASSON!! I KNOW you READ THIS BLOG..as does most of KC's political players and many business peope...true. Is this a code violation?

    ReplyDelete

  39. you really are a self-important lunatic, you know that?

what? you couldn't find anything else to put a mushroom cloud picture on so you selected this?

I can see you now, out on someone's front porch, a few years from now--"YOU KIDS GET OFF MY LAWN!"

    you are bonafide looney

  40. There is a small neighborhood behind the Roasterie. Do a google map search The Roasterie Inc, West 27th Street, Kansas City, MO. But those houses are surrounded by light industrial properties on 3 sides and highway on the 4th side. But just because they are an outpost, doesn't mean that the Roasterie couldn't be a better neighbor. But the ship has sailed for that neighborhood on any claim to aesthetics.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Tony should have done his homework on that tiny set of houses. Why does he do that? That airplane is a symbol of development on the west side.

Tony needs to upscale his interests, actually GO to the new Jewish monument to Leawood culture downtown...and get a piece of it.

There's no style about being culturally ignorant in your own basement. That's way past being cute.

Makes people wonder if he needs to take a bath before reading his blog. I expect one of his heros, John Landsberg, would advise the same.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Maybe the "original" Westsiders can show their contempt for the gentrifiers by mowing their lawns and painting their fucking houses for a change.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Lots of airlines launched planes on 9/11. Big F'in deal.

If the plane had tits, Tony would be totally in favor of it.

    ReplyDelete
  44. You gonna lose this one, TKC...

    ReplyDelete
  45. I'd sign off on a boycott of Royal Liquors if I were a customer but I'm not. The un supervised loitering and the trash and crime that come about as a result of a liquor store in the neighborhood do far more to detract than a viable business with a unique marketing gimmick. By the way, Royal Liquors and the other neon liquor store on the boulevard have a far more obtrusive form of advertising, but I also enjoy their signs, if not their business. On any given night I pass by the big neon liquor sign to see which letter is burned out this time and what humorous word it spells now.

    ReplyDelete
  46. You know what? If a Mexican knows about one thing: It's beans.

So I salute your efforts TKC and I will help you boycott over priced hipster coffee.

    ReplyDelete
  47. This boycott is delicious. I just went to Latte Land and refused the beans. Fuck'em.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Nice boycott now we have a Mexican Free place to go in West Side.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Excellent. You radical malcontents just keep boycotting...all the way right out of town. I don't want to run into you pathetic people when I spend a day downtown.

    ReplyDelete
  50. A really nice Rosterie brand sign right below it would look very cool, if they have any money left.

Ya know if Boeing would build a plant on the west side, they can put a whole jumbo jet over there for decoration.

Just where does Tony live anyway? I thought he was in KC. Now he's taking up for the brownskins? Maybe he should head down to San Antonio and see what cool Mexican architecture looks like!

And put some pictures of it on his blog. He probably doesn't have enough money to drive/fly to Mexico City and take a few pictures.

Sadly, my image of Mexicans is driving old trucks very slowly so they don't get stopped by the cops... carrying lawn mowing equipment. Wonder if we just get the low-scale Mexicans up here and the good one stay down there?

    ReplyDelete
  51. Tony's just trying to be a community leader in the Westside.

Which means that the plane would of been fine with Tony if the Roasterie would of paid him off first.

But...They told him to fuck off and now he's crying in his beans.

    Bwaaaahahahahahahahaaahhhahaha!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Please that's why to entrepreneurial for this lame blogger.

Tony is just bitching and it looks like he's doing a good job.

It's hard to believe there are so many racists in Kansas City though. Strange how Tony's ethnicity came up really quick. I think there is some merit to Tony's complaints about this company. They do not hire from within the neighborhood.

    ReplyDelete
  53. What makes you, Tony, the sole arbitor of what should or should not be allowed on some property that's not yours? And under whose authority? And why do you think your disagreement with this rises to the level of a "boycott"? I think, baseed on what I see here and throughout your "blog" that you are nothing but an internet agitator. You enjoy upsetting and angering those who do not think like you; and enjoy the attention of like-minded people that you agitate into anger with your content. Fortunately, few people take you seriously. Please do boycott and stay away from downtown, and the Plaza. I don't want people like you around where I enjoy patronizing.

    ReplyDelete
  54. So, Boulvard Brewing and Roasterie Coffee are two businesses that stay on the west side and have the unmitigated gall to put developments on their property without asking everyone if it's ok...

You do realize that TWA had the first coast to coast flights in America in planes that sort of looked like that one. It was seen as a symbol of unity and, if you weren't too busy supporting the local liquor stores, you may see it as such here. If you can't get people together with a nice cup of coffee, you just can't get people together.

Why don't you go find some two-bit moron making a movie insulting Caesar Chavez and riot on the westside OR shut the hell up and be glad two local businesses are booming over there and bringing in all sorts of stupid white people to tour the places and dump money in your neighborhood.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Tony brings up some good points.

Where is the permit from the city to erect this airplane? A building permit at least should have been required.

Also the plane is the same as a sign where is the city's ok to put this huge ass sign up?

This plane to me would at least require a special use permit zoning for the property which would have required a public hearing and noticed set to the surrounding residents letting them know about said meetings.

Yup have to agree it appears some possible shady dealing going on here.

Tony you need to get all over this and check all this stuff out. Then expose it if you find anything not on the up and up. A boycott isn’t going to change anything for the most part but diving into rather or not it was legal will answer a lot of questions and maybe give you that chance to expose dirty dealings at 12th and Oak.

  56. Deer Toniskaycee:

Doo ai needs a beeldeen permits to let mine porsh fall into mine jard?

    Gracias, Joselito del "oeste sai".

    ReplyDelete
  59. super dave, one things for sure.you love the taste of tonys bean bag...give it rest ya fugin goof.

    ReplyDelete
  60. So investing $5 million into a Westsude building isn't enough?

    ReplyDelete
  61. Relax it is art. Therefore it is ok Tony. You know freedom of speech and all. Sure beats the crappy art the city sponsors.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I will only join this boycott if I get a free Starbucks coupon.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Great idea run more business out of Kansas City. It looks better than all the Mexican graphiti anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Superdave, please.

You're going to say there were no permits filed for this plane/advertising? That it wasn't done legally and on the up-and-up?

Not that that's not possible, sure, but shouldn't you check it out first?

    ReplyDelete
  65. You ever been to the West side mo rage. People don't build up to code all of the time. It's a common practice. Dave makes a good point.
