Kansas City Shooting Questions, No Answers

Aftermath of yet another local shooting . . . Check the links:

Police investigating a double shooting in Kansas City were questioning five people Monday night.

Related to local bullets flying . . . Shots fired at officers answering suicide call

Sadly, it seems like there's increasing shooting at the end of the Kansas City Summer and after local mainstream media has declared success in preventing local violence.

Well that is a first in KC. The police actually fired at someone and they are alive to talk about it? The guy must have been an FBI agent or something.

Dear Mr. Tony: Thanks for posting. With reference to the local mainstream media, they have declared victory in the war against crime about 20 times in the last five years--starting with the launch of the allegedly brillant Aim4Peace program in early 2008. They are beginning to sound as boring as McNamara declaring victory in Vietnam and Rumsfeld declaring victory in Iraq. In human terms you can't blame them for wanting to "declare victory"--they bear very heavy responsibility for our city's ongoing crime disaster. Take care. Sincerely and Respectfully, Ernest Evans

The mayor, council, police board, command staff, and city, neighborhood leaders DO bear responsibility for the levels of violence and homicides in KCMO, but they really don't demonstrate any sense of urgency, responsibility, or even interest in something as boring as providing public safety.
So they just keep doing the same things, pointing to others who should be doing more, calling no one to account for results, issuing press releases with the latest superficial spin, and hoping that maybe somehowthe NEXT out-of-town program will be the charm.
KCMO Groundhog Day.
