We hear that there's news coming soon about "progress" toward accreditation from The KCPS that's tantamount to treading water in the grand scheme of Kansas City's troubled public education history.
However . . . What's more fun is to take apart marketing materials that might have escaped the public eye . . .

There's a Catch-22 here . . . If Kansas City Public Schools really performed a decent job educating "scholars" soon to graduate high school then those students would IMMEDIATELY recognize this bit of propaganda as nothing more than a desperate attempt at politically motivated persuasion.

This is part of a marketing campaign that includes students, faculty and even a few janitors and security guards talking about KCPS accreditation or lack thereof along with even more happy talk.
The KCPS is clearly putting on a seminar in propaganda and we can only hope that their effort toward reacquiring accreditation is as impressive as the work they've done in attempting to explain away the EPIC FAIL involved in losing it in the first place.
You're right about the design anyway.
ReplyDeleteIf PR did anything other than blow lots of smoke, the KCPS would be the greatest institution in the state, the KCPD would have the lowest murder rate in the country, and KCMO would actually have a municipal government.

I guess what the PR piece is saying is that KCMOSD didn't "work hard enough!"

ReplyDeleteThere's only one way to categorize a diploma from an unaccredited school. It's just a NIGGER diploma and nothing more. Don't like the "n" word, too bad. It's a situation where nothing else fits as well.

ReplyDeleteI think we have a right to encourage children but that doesn't mean we should lie to them. The fact is that students in Kansas City public schools have lower test scores and that's why they have lost accreditation. The students should know the facts, that is what is most important in education.
ReplyDeleteOf course, the KCMO public schools AREN'T about young people or education and haven't been for decades.
ReplyDeleteThey're about employing family and friends, paying thousands of "contractors" with programs that no one can quite put their finger on, adults fighting over teh money as it decreases every year, and lucrative deals like the ACE school which paid its administrators six-figure salaries.
If any parents or young people are really seriously interested in getting an education and making something of their lives, they need to enroll in some other institution.
