LATEST KANSAS CITY DEADLY SHOOTING!!!

Actually, I've noticed a bit of a homicide and shooting slowdown despite that fact we're pretty much where we've been for the past 5 years.

Still . . . Bullets started flying in Northeast last night and a shooting victim eventually died.

Star: Man shot in Kansas City's Northeast

KSHB: A man died after being shot late Thursday night in the back of a pickup truck.

Sadly, the weekend hasn't even started . . . Unofficially, Kansas City's murder count stands at 48.

Dear Mr. Tony: Thanks for posting this info--info that most of the city's politicos want "swept under the rug." Just in case there is anyone out there foolish enough to believe our now 4+ year homicide surge in KCMO is due to the recession, a few facts. (Facts, as we all know, have a nasty way of interfering with pet theories.) The homicide stats around the nation for 2012 vary widely--Chicago is up sharply in 2012, NYC and Wash/DC are down significantly for 2012. If the recession had been causing KCMO's homicide surge you would expect similar results all over the nation--and that has most emphatically not happened; homicides have declined in America steadily since 2006. KCMO's homicide surge is due to serious mistakes by the city's political class in handling the crime situation, not national problems like the recession, lack of gun control, youth demographics, etc. Time to stop trying to "spin" (what we used to call "lie") your way out of responsibility for this long-running tragedy. Sincerely and Respectfully, Ernest Evans
