"KCPD called for more than 20+ cars to 14th and Wyandotte at the Music Hall tonight to assist officers working Paseo High School's graduation. A very large disturbance apparently broke out inside and the officers working the event asked for help in dealing with the crowd and disturbances. Officers from three different patrol zones were called down there to deal with the crowd which was completely out of hand . . ."

THERE IS NO DOUBT THAT KANSAS CITY PUBLIC SCHOOLS ARE IN CRISIS AND THE PASEO GRADUATION FIGHT OF 2012 COULD SIGNAL THE END FOR THE DISTRICT!!!
On a personal level, this is all rather interesting because my Dad attended Paseo during its glory days and at the outset of its decline. From what I've heard, Paseo was once the crown jewel of this city's public education system and last night the obvious decline into violence during a graduation ceremony could very well mark the conclusion of Kansas City public schools in their current configuration.

ReplyDeleteA few things here: Black people graduate high school? Who knew? There was a gathering of black people and violence occurred? Of course it did. It would be more surprising if it didn't. Paseo was once the "crown jewel." My dad went their too. It was the "crown jewel" decades ago when white people lived in the area and kept it nice. Troost was once nice too. But like EVERYTHING else in this country once it was left to blacks it turned into a shithole. Like an old codger I used to know said, "Black people make paint peel and grass die." He of course left out black people make other people die too. What a race of violent, lazy, hypocrites. Oh, and where is the outrage for the white man jogging on Blue Ridge and shot by "two black men" according to multiple witnesses?

They figure that as long as the ball goes back into play, there's always a chance they can get their snouts back in the trough.

We've all this this movie way too many times; these "leaders" get appointed to boards, funded by corporations, foundations, and the city, quoted by the media, celebrated by the swells, and gets all the money. And the east side residents suffer the consequences.

Pretty sure instead of earning a high school diploma by hard work and studying, these animals were probably "graduated" because the school is tired of wasting their time trying to educate them. I heard that along with every diploma, they are handing out maps with bus route schedules on how to get to the welfare office, the unemployment office and, for those that graduated in the top 50% of their class, City Hall's Human Resources Department (Water Services is hiring!).

The graduation went off without a hitch, nothing like the yelling, screaming and uncontrolled behavior at ceremonies in the distant past. Why Paseo's graduation? Did it have anything to do with the incident at the school involving the Black United Front enticing children to disrupt a KPPS meeting? The timing was perfect giving the passage by the state to eliminate the two year waiting period and the dissolution of the elected board. The question that I can't seem to shake is who benefits from state intervention? Someone mentioned contracts and money grabbing. It is sad that we let crumbs from a table divide us. What happened, we are a very proud people and yet we have let ourselves become victims of self hatred.

DeleteThe latest Vote by the Missouri Senate to eliminate the two year waiting period and dissolve the elected board was from all indication a unanimous vote. From the results of the count I can conclude with certainty that Kiki Curls voted in favor of the bill. What I don't get is what was her motivation. Was her vote to protect her political career or was it to appease the Tindall Machine? She is an elected official, how can she possibly vote to get rid of a elective process that put her where she is. When the bill goes to the house, I am now wondering how Brandon and Gail will vote.

That way Ajamu and Company can keep Ajamu's daughter employed with a high salary, and others as well. Kiki has shown her true colors (no pun intended) by siding with this radical group. You'd think with all of the money Ajamu grabs from different areas of the City, he'd grab a bit more to pay his property taxes. I think he still owes about $29k in unpaid and delinquent taxes. The question now becomes, how is she going to face her constituents, and what is she going to say to them regarding her vote? I can just hear her saying "I did what I thought was best for the children and the community that I represent". That would be such a weak position to take. A more appropriate response would be, as you mentioned, "I did what I was told to do."

I don't care how much I disagree with a people, I could never resort to such degrading remarks directed toward them. Please, consider the hurt you cause when you prepare your next response.
These were not students but guests attending the graduation. The disturbance did not occur until the graduation was over people were exiting the event. I don't see how the district can be held accountable for the actions of guests at an event. I witnessed the event and Mr. West was in the midst trying to separate those fighting. People should know the truth before leaving a biased opinion.
