Kansas City political life is mostly about damage control no matter what demographic description is under discussion.
STILL, AN ETHICS INQUIRY CONCERNING FREEDOM INC. HAS POLITICOS THROUGHOUT THE EASTSIDE WONDERING WHO WILL "TAKE THE HIT" WHEN ALL IS SAID AND DONE!!!"
We're not going to participate in the blame game going on behind the scenes . . . BUUUUUUUTTTTTTTTT . . . A bit of speculation/theorizing about the consequences of this political hot mess isn't out of line . . .
First of all . . . Remember that this controversy extends beyond the East side and just about every establishment City Council and Mayoral candidate had some association with Freedom Inc. during the last election cycle.
Still . . . East side elected officials and hopefuls aren't bragging about a Freedom Inc. Association nowadays and despite the promotional movie directed by the Congressman Cleaver's son.
Finally . . . Missouri Ethics rules are in flux . . . Making too big of an example out of Freedom Inc. might have an undesired backlash in the midst of an election year.
What we're hearing: Freedom Inc. haters and so many local political watchers might not get their pound of flesh because of an effort to place blame on minor league political players . . . Proving once and for all that politics in Kansas City is often an EXPENSIVE WASTE OF TIME.

ReplyDeleteIf there were any REALLY SERIOUS investigations of the usual suspects on the east side, we'd finally get rid of them and maybe the younger folks who actually care about their community would finally get a chance to lead.

ReplyDeleteFreedom did nothing different than they had been doing for 20 years. The difference is they are no longer useful to white politicians so they let the Ethics Commission put them out of business. Had they still been useful the Ethics Commission would have continued to ignore them.

Westport Landing sells its endorsement pure and simple and no one says a word because it consists of one old White lady. These attacks against Freedom are simply racism trying to keep the people down.

John Crawford send Freedom Inc. an illegal campaign contribution for several thousand dollars but he has never been cited. He is a white man from Crestwood so nothing will happen to him. Justice is unequal in this state.
