Here's transcripts from today’s GSA hearing where the report is causing quite a stir:

Congressman Walz: There’s a concern there. Are some of you aware of what’s being reported there, and it was again last night on WUSA about the health risks that are being reported by GSA members.

IG: We found that GSA did not manage the environmental risks at that facility well over the last ten years.

Congressman Walz: The risks or the risks of bad PR? Because it seems to me they spent more money on the risks of bad PR than the environmental risks.

IG: Well, that’s a fair statement.

IG: As soon as we announced our audit, the entered into a PR contract within 24 hours to handle PR, even though they had a PR staff there.

Congressman Walz: Is that legal to do that?

IG: In our opinion, they violated just about all the procurement rules in hiring this PR firm.

Congressman Walz This is not just Western Region, now I have another region we brought in with a very similar cultural disinterest in their employees and desire to have PR to trump..

IG: We do have this incident in Kansas City. We did the report. They hired the PR.

Congressman Walz: Deeply troubling. We move at a snail’ pace until it’s something with PR in an agency and we’re able to issue an agency.
