Kansas City Street Sign PR Ordinance

The Star reports on a local ordinance that shows The Mayor and City Council aiming extremely low when it comes to cleaning up local streets: New Kansas City law takes aim at junk signs

  1. Just in time to get rid of all those signs protesting the upcoming KCP&L rate hikes. Did you know that KCPL pays no corporate taxes, and dispenses hundreds of millions of dollars each year as profit to its shareholders. That is correct, you heard me: KCPL pays shareholders millions in profits while increasing our utility rates and paying zero corporate earnings tax.

You wonder why the rich get richer? Because the masses are lazy asshats.

  2. These signs are almost as bad as unsolicited bulk e-mail.

  3. Let's also ban billboard ads. If you think the lawn ads are bad nothing is worse than the giant versions that blight our city skyline. But NOOOOOO somebody paid god money for those stupid giant billboards.

Idiots. You get rid of the little signs but not the giant uber-blight signs.

    So f'ing stupid.

  4. Hey Helkenberg, you're a fucking idiot and nobody cares about your war with billboards. At least they PAID for their advertising. The shitty businesses like "we buy junk cars" litter these poor neighborhoods and do it for free. Shut the hell up! You obviously work for some scam business that advertises this way.

  5. No, I am simply smart enough to point out that if you really think that these rather small signs are blighting the area, you might want to consider the impact the very large signs are having. Look at those COMBAT billboard signs for crying out loud. Do you think those ads are helping sell our city? No, not in the least.

Sure, I am opposed to littering our neighborhoods with signs. But as a person who actually picks up the trash in his neighborhood I can tell you that fast food bags and wrappers and plastic bottles are a far greater nuisance than signs.

This crackdown has everything to do with protecting politicians from criticism. Watch next election cycle when the enforcement gets completely lax again.

    Wake up.
