For the record, School Board Member Airick L. West has told mainstream media that he IS NOT running for reelection as a school board member.
However . . .
AMONG THE VAST ARRAY OF WRITE-IN CANDIDATES FOR THE KANSAS CITY PUBLIC SCHOOL BOARD THERE IS CONCERN THAT AIRICK WEST WILL STILL EARN ENOUGH VOTES TO WIN REELECTION!!!
Fact: There is no need to "file" or declare anything in order to run as a write-in candidates for the KCPS.
Consider: Current School Board Member Arthur Benson won his position on the board with little more than a couple of hundred write-in signatures.
So . . .
THIS KANSAS CITY PUBLIC SCHOOL BOARD ELECTION HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BE EXTREMELY CONFUSING AND DIVISIVE!!!
We're talking about people mainly campaigning among their family, friends and extended social circle. Anything can happen among this fractured field of candidates.
Now, we've tried to get in touch with School Board Member Airick West but he isn't answering our e-mails.
There's talk of clandestine School Board Campaigns from a variety of people NOT including West.
However, this post merely represents the genuine concern of other candidates that West might earn enough write-in votes simply through name recognition that could win him re-election.
Expect a repeated call for West to reaffirm his intention to bow out of reelection efforts . . . OR . . . Maybe watch another confusing and convoluted event for Kansas City Public Schools in which a guy who said he wasn't running might end up being re-elected..

ReplyDeleteAs usual, the KCPS is all about the "adults" and not the students. This will be just one more reason to do away with the elected board, as though there weren't enough reasons already.

Kansas Citians are always investing energy into mindless behavior! Wishthefocus was more about the kids and less about the adults that had a hand in destroying the district. Please tell Mr. West to find a job he can be successful at and leave the children alone.

There are a lot of older white ladies out there that he has flirted with and made to feel sexy over the years. Many of them are registered to vote, and not many voters turn out in elections like this. I would say The Black Jesus might just pull this off on the Mary Magdalene write in campaign alone.

ReplyDeleteI'm not in favor of breaking up the school district because the test scores for KCPS students will not count in all of the bills proposed to break up the district. Student achievement must be a priority.
ReplyDeleteTherefore, I am largely in favor of eliminating the school board. They do nothing for student achievement. They are a constant distraction. They not only are not keeping track of the money, they seem to have a way of handing out.
Green is doing what needs to be done. Let the state take over and let Green do his job.
