TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY'S FAILING P&L DISTRICT IS GOING TO BUILD A DOWNTOWN HOTEL!!!

Kansas City . . . Don't get too scared.

I know the nuke bomb might frighten sensitive readers but please hold on to your underpants. While this story isn't exactly what it seems, it's still about throwing away good money after bad in downtown Kansas City.

But let me have this red headline and then we'll get to a few details . . .

CONSTRUCTION ON A DOWNTOWN P&L DISTRICT HOTEL IS ALREADY UNDERWAY AS THE BELEAGUERED AND MONEY LOSING ENTERTAINMENT DISTRICT SEEMS TO BE GETTING DESPERATE!!!

Now, it's not this kind of hotel . . .

Nope . . .

THE P&L DISTRICT IS BUSY BUILDING A DUMBASS DOWNTOWN HOTEL THEMED CLUB CALLED . . . YOU GUESSED IT . . . HOTEL!!!

Genius. I'm not sure it'll make up the millions worth of subsidy that the P&L District costs Kansas City every year. But this one is brilliant nonetheless.

I'm far to disinterested in faux Downtown Kansas City club life to go and grab photos of the construction. But I just thought I'd RUIN THE SUPRISE when the media blitz for club starts.

Quick lesson to P&L District d-bags . . . Money doesn't buy loyalty and your people love to talk behind your back.

So . . . Very much like the Downtown Hotel that's going to cost Kansas City hundreds of millions . . . This tiny downtown hotel club is part of another FAILED experiment involving politicos who try and play real estate developer.

By the way, as clubs continue to close and the place seems just a tad bit more lame every year . . . I'll remind everybody that the TKC Boycott is clearly working.

  2. The first couple of times that I saw this picture, I thought it was photo-shopped. But, those really are giant cutouts over the doorway. Its so childish & cartoonish (& degrading to women), that I would be embarrassed to walk beneath them to enter the building.

  3. Byron, I thought you wern't going to post here again? Got tired of raping your 14-year-old mexican Step-daughter?

  5. Cordish killed so many real downtown businesses that it doesn't matter at this point.

  6. The nightclub has been planned since the very beginning of the p&l. They are just now getting around to opening it three years late. They are also putting an event space about the Bristol cause they cvan't find anyone to take the space.

  7. MUST be public money. Nobody in their right mind would EVER spend their own funds for such a dumb assed enterprise as this.

  8. The thought of nightlife in Kansas City is about as quaint as the idea that KC has stockyards. It used to exist..but it doesn't anymore.

Cordish sucks. About the only thing good about downtown these days is KC replaced the dumpy arena in the West Bottoms with something respectable in a not half bad location. As for the rest of it...bleech.

  9. I guess mayor Sly James could not get the Cordish Group to attend their own financial planning classes.

However they continue to control (through fail) significant amounts of KC tax revenue.

A veritable white supremacist who has bleached every bit of color and history from downtown KC is still in control of significant amounts of KC tax revenue.

And yet the people do not care. It is like the lobster, being slowly boiled to death. Except lobsters have more intelligence than voters. I mean, don't get me wrong, a lobster in a pot is destined to die a terrible death by slow cooking. But KC voters are currently being slowly boiled alive (by increasing utility rates, tax rates, water rates, gas prices, food prices, violent crime, failing schools).

Hotel themed club? I bet if we let mayor Sly's son design the downtown entertainment we could turn this economic situation around in a heartbeat. Of course, we would also be raping schoolchildren and skipping out on our bar tabs.

    And isn't that a coincidence?

Skipping out on a tab is *exactly* what the Cordish Group has done. And guess who has to pay for it.

    We do.

  13. As a resident downtown, I don't support the P&L and would rather drive to shop eat or drink elsewhere and I live only a block away!
