TKC EXCLUSIVE AND BREAKING NEWS!!! PETITION EFFORT TO KILL KANSAS CITY RED LIGHT CAMERAS FILED AND UNDERWAY!!!

Check THE LATEST BREAKING NEWS on an effort that directly impacts EVERYONE driving through Kansas City Proper.

A KANSAS CITY CITIZEN PETITION INITIATIVE HAS BEEN FILED AND DISTRIBUTED IN ORDER TO GET RID OF RED LIGHT CAMERAS IN THIS COWTOWN!!!

These things usually go over HUGE with voters and one of the organizers tells us that she's confident that the less than 3k voters required to get this thing on the ballot will sign . . . Especially considering how many signatures Clay Chastain was able to get.

And this leads to the question . . .

DOES THE CITY COUNCIL HAVE THE GUTS TO PLAY THE ROLE OF TYRANT AND TAKE THIS INITIATIVE OFF THE BALLOT?!?!?

They've already removed Citizen Initiative Petitions TWICE . . . Clay was railroaded (LOL, I'm so clever) and I think they also gave the bum rush to some hippies.

Anyhoo . . .

TKC READERS KNOW THAT WHEN WE'RE TALKING ABOUT THE STRUGGLE FOR LIBERTY. . . OBVIOUSLY LOCAL ACTIVIST TRACY WARD IS AT WORK!!!

Ward is reportedly a big part of this deal and she seems confident.

"We're going to get the signatures and this needs to be on the ballot," Tracy Ward said. "A lot of people just hate these cameras and the public must have a voice in whether or not Red Light Cameras continue in Kansas City."

Tracy is no stranger to this issue and now she is powered by a cadre of supporters who intend to put the fate of Kansas City Red-Light Cameras into the hands of voters.

DEVELOPING . . .

Comments

  1. City Council won't stand for it. Sorry Tony.

    ReplyDelete
  2. Where do I sign so we can see?

    ReplyDelete
  3. They did not get far with our council. There are better ways to accomplish the same goals but you won't generate revenue, which is what this is all about. All red for 15 seconds would almost eliminate intersection accidents. The odds of two people running the red are very small.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Becky, do you honestly think people are going to sit still for 15 seconds at a red light when the other is red too? People will think the light is malfunctioning.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Regular-length yellows should be brought back. All of the red-light running started when they shortened the YELLOW lights. They did this to increase revenue with traffic tickets. BTW, what kind of revenue are the RL cameras generating?

    ReplyDelete
  6. Pinky needs to get a real job.

    ReplyDelete
  7. If you want the cameras to go away stop running red lights, this will ensure that no revenue is generated...

    ReplyDelete
  8. Bukkake Ward at it again. Go away.

    ReplyDelete
  9. "Yes, please take the cameras away so we can start running red lights again!"

    Jackasses.

    ReplyDelete
  10. She should offer rewards to sign. A free pink tinfoil hat with every signature.

    ReplyDelete
  11. where do i sign up

    ReplyDelete
  12. here we go again.

    ReplyDelete
  13. 7:33 & 7:57 are correct...now add me to the list of people who think these actually make our city safer. Come on everyone, why should we be helping people break the law and endanger the lives of our friends, neighbors and family? Get a clue you pink-haired idiot!

    ReplyDelete
  14. great idea, where do I sign.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I'm still puzzling over the threat to liberty aspect of this that has Tracy so up in arms.

Would she prefer a cop on every corner using his own judgment of whether the light was yellow or red?

    I hope not.

    ReplyDelete
  16. What is so bad about a red light camera. Dangerous intersections are dangerous. Right?

    ReplyDelete
  17. What part of "illegal is illegal" don't they understand???

    Don't want a ticket, don't run a red light!

    ReplyDelete
  18. These are nothing more than cash registers on street corners. KCMO cops hate them too!!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Does Ward have a paying job?

    ReplyDelete
  20. It' not just the revenue and work for the lawyers. Although, the politicians do like that stuff. Same as all the drug screens for high school kids, DUI check-points, it's about CONTROL. Take away more and more FREEDOM, a little at a time. Hell, next thing you know they'll make cold medicine prescription only.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Freedom requires responsiblity. Since people don't want to be responsible the red light cameras had to be installed. Guess what. They work.

The libretarians around here are as irresponsbile and insensitive to the rights of others as it gets thats the ironic part.

    ReplyDelete
  22. TKC exclusive and breaking news!!! Petition effort to BAN PINK HAIR filed and underway!!!

  23. Not her mother's daughter8/30/11, 10:01 AM

Listen people, we are not living in a democracy.

For example, just look at Local 42 controlling the process to replace Jean Peters Baker as state representative. Local 42 wants the former boss of teacher's union, Judy Morgan, in that office, so it is going to happen. The public gets no say!

You can die your hair pink, circulate petitions and make yourself feel like you are doing something but it is just political masturbation.

Masturbation is fun, but it is not the real thing. You are only crazy when you cannot tell the difference between what is real and what is fiction.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Don't do the crime if you can do the time. Tracy, what is your route to work? I want to blow through a red light and crash into you since our fucking laws don't matter to you.

    ReplyDelete
  25. great idea, where do I sign.

Shitheels won't follow the normal laws, so cameras are a necessity.
More and more "freedoms" are being taken away to try and corral the shitheel cockroaches of society, a group which is exponentially growing.

  30. Real bad analogies, 9:15.

There is no place in the United States where ALL high school kids are screened for drugs. There are SOME screenings for such things as sports and others for cause.

You might have had a point with DUI checkpoints, but since they are well publicized in advance, you have to be a moron or drunk to get caught in one. But yes, it is an inconvenience if you are sober and that dumb.

There is absolutely no inconvenience to redlight cameras. Absolutely none. They do not hinder or impede you, and the violation is actually less than if you were caught by a cop.

But you go ahead and whine about how your right to run red lights, your right to drive drunk, and your kid's right to do drugs is being slowly eroded.

    ReplyDelete
  31. She should face it. Cameras are the future. And people are driving worse all the time.

    ReplyDelete
  32. The Judy Morgan for the state legislature thing is a joke, right?

    ReplyDelete
  33. One bayonet short of a survivalist’s dream (No Red Light Cameras!)

    ReplyDelete
  34. FYI since the proponents of this petition on here apparently don't know the traffic laws. The cameras are not violating your rights. You do not have the RIGHT to drive. As defined by state statute, driving is a PRIVILEGE. That's why when you're license is suspended/revoked, you get a ticket for operating a motor vehicle when your driving PRIVILEGES have been suspended--NOT when your driving RIGHTS have been suspended.

So take the bus or don't run red lights if you're worried about it.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Judy Morgan fucked up the KCMSD almost single-handedly over a period of more than 25 years. There is no way in hell that she can be elected to the state legislature. Nice try.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Those cameras have never been about public safety, it's about revenue enhancement. Tracy deserves kudos for taking this on. As for the pink hair comments posted above, many of the critics are just jealous that they don't have enough hair to dye anymore or they can't find someone that cute to be with.

    ReplyDelete
  37. What revenue since people now stop at the red lights. That make sense to the neck tattoo and ball cap brains out there

    ReplyDelete
  38. Great idea.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Tracys so full of bullshit the fact is most head on collisions and accidents are happening now were there are not any red light cameras.

    ReplyDelete
  40. 11:56 AM

    I agree.

If public safety were really an issue the PD would have taken on violent crime and the Homicide rate a long time ago.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Red light cameras?

Oh, I thought you said red light district!

    ReplyDelete
  42. One suggestion on the DUI checkpoints.

Don't tell in advance where they will be.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Good for Tracy. Red Light cameras suck.

    ReplyDelete
  44. 12:13--

Why do you care about the violent crime or homicide rate? Were you affected by this or a victim at some point? Just curious.

    ReplyDelete
  45. has anyone looked at who gets the tickets. If they are given out like regular traffic tickets they will mostly go to middle class non-KC residents.

Poor people mostly don't pay their tickets and too many given out to KC residents would be bad for business.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Radioman is an idiot.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Radioman and Tony only support Tracy beause they want to see if the carpet matches the drapes.

    ReplyDelete
  48. It doesn't matter what we post here...this is a hot button issue and the initiative will pass.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I'm assuming that Tracy has neither had her car crashed into by a red-light runner nor had a friend involved in a similar accident. I have had both. And, the number of losers (legal and illegal) in this city with no insurance is horrifying. I was "lucky?" enough that the moron who crashed into me had insurance. His insurance company was dinged by 12,000. And, that red-light camera was the only thing that gave us the proof needed that he ran the red-light. Go back to a real job, idiot.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I'd still like to cum on her feet!

    ReplyDelete
  51. For all you morons crying that red light cameras are some huge revenue maker, (retards, all of you) think again.

Those cameras are not owned by the city. The city leases them and their maintenance through a private company. The revenue coming from tickets issued (after each recorded violation is reviewed by an officer)in some instances barely covers the cost of the lease agreement. The longer a red light camera is in operation the more people know about it, the less people run it, the less tickets are issued, the less money is generated, the less the city nets after the lease is paid + safer intersection.

    Get a clue douchebags.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I still ignore your capital letters and larger fonts. scroll straight to the bottom to read your comments.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Maybe KCPD can automate law enforcement in Kansas City altogether..... and get rid of the donut eating Police Officers and save the Citizens of Kansas City some ill gotten pay raises.

    ReplyDelete
  54. The cameras have come down in LA, Houston, and College City TX. There are other cities looking at doing away with them as well.
If you want safer intersections, lengthen the yellow light time be even ONE SECOND and you decrease accidents without generating revenue. Arnold, MO did it and in one day, their red light camera revenues went down 90%.
You want safer intersections, there's ways to do it.

    ReplyDelete
  55. In order to fine a driver for running a red light, they have to prove who was driving. They can't fine the vehicle for running a red light. Red light camera's are about revenue generation not safety, and they suck at it. Most people just come to court and say Prove I was behind the wheel.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Fuck those red light cameras.
    Get rid of them.
For once get the cops to do some work.

Get off your lazy asses at KCPD and get into a Patrol Car and start doing some community policing.

    Cameras my ass.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Hangs some donuts off the red lights to attract a few "live" cops. That's the solution.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Mental Ward

    ReplyDelete
  59. For those of you that feel that red light cameras should be retained, let me help you understand why some of us find them to be a problem. First of all, it is not against the law to enter an intersection on yellow. However, the red light cameras are designed to photograph cars in the intersection when the light turns red. Therefore, many of those cars cited for running a red light are, in fact, not in violation of the law. Second, the majority of the revenue that is generated goes to the owner of the cameras who has an incentive to game the controls to implicate as many law abiding citizens as possible.

Other commentators have suggested a brief period of time wherein all traffic sees a red light. This seems like a far better solution to the problem of people sneaking through a fresh red light. While this does nothing to stop the drunk or inattentive driver who plows through a stale red light, a traffic ticket doesn't stop that person either.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Sorry, 9:41, but you don't know what you are talking about.

The camera takes three pictures. One as you are entering the intersection, one as you are in it, a closeup of your license tag. Plus a video.

If you enter on a yellow light, no violation. In fact, if you happen to get a ticket (extremely unlikely), the camera provides your best defense. You should be glad it's there rather than trying to argue that a cop was wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Sorry people, the city council will not stand for it.

I don't care how many citizen signatures you get on any ballot initiative, the people of KC are too stupid and corrupt to govern themselves. Only the council knows what is best for everyone else.

Ballot initiatives are a bad idea because people cannot be trusted to do what is in their best interest and must be told what to do and how to behave. Freedom doesn't work.

    ReplyDelete
  62. @ 11:37
How the heck do you face your accuser in court if the accuser is a camera? Also, those cameras do NOT take a photo of the person driving the vehicle. So, say you let grandma borrow your car and she runs a red, should YOU be held accountable for another person's actions? How does the court prove that YOU are the guilty one?
You have to understand the right to due process. You have every right to face your accuser. That is not possible when it is a camera that is the courts burden of proof.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Wow. For those of you idiots who feel that robot policing is the absolute BEST thing on Earth, and that they help cut down on accidents, get a clue. If they statistically cut down on running reds, and head on or side collisions from that, take a look at how many get rear ended now, caused by the idiot that was afraid to enter the intersection on a yellow. Those numbers have risen exponentially.

Oh, and another thing... All of you dingleberries who think that making crude and offensive comments about Tracy need to grow up. You show your stupidity every time you make a comment like that. YOU are the ones who don't understand the concept of personal responsibility for your actions. Own up and grow up. Or do you need the government to help you wipe your butt too? I'm sure they'd be happy to tax you to cover the cost of cleaning up after you. You probably like the cameras because they are a way to remind you that, duh, running a red light is illegal. That way you don't get confused by which color means "go".

    ReplyDelete
  64. 12:19, Love it. Red light district. We can call it Crack Town.

    ReplyDelete
  65. @11:37, Interesting theory. Why is there only one flash?

    ReplyDelete
  66. First off, the flash duration is long enough and bright enough to catch a moving vehicle in the split second it takes to approach and enter the intersection.

1:33: "How the heck do you face your accuser in court if the accuser is a camera?"

Dumbest question on earth. Your accuser is NOT the camera, any more than the accuser of a bank robber caught on surveillance is a camera. It is evidence and it cuts both ways. The violations that a camera records are reviewed by living, breathing cops, who then write the ticket. In the unlikely event you get a ticket for running a yellow light, the camera is now your best friend.

Without the camera, try arguing to a judge that a cop who wrote you a red light ticket was wrong, and that the light was yellow.

Second, since you have done so little research on this subject, you apparently don't know the difference between a red light camera violation and a red light violation from a cop.

A red light camera violation is a non-moving violation that does not go against your driving record or insurance. It is simply being the registered owner of a vehicle that was caught on camera running a red light.

Now if grandma borrows the car, and you get a ticket in the mail, that's between you and grandma. The time, date, and location are clearly printed on the ticket, as well as the photos of your car entering and well into the interesection, plus your license tag.

Finally, there is absolutely no record, nothing to back up the myth among the looney libertarian crowd that rear-end accidents have gone up "exponitentially" or otherwise at camera intersections. None.

Tracy Ward and her minions might think the public is dumb enough to believe that, but that lie has been blown out of the water a long time ago.

    ReplyDelete
  67. @9:56 Again, if there are supposedly three photos taken, why is there only one flash. Duration isn't long enough. A flash, by design, stops action. You seem to be an authority on this but your lack of understanding of physics dampens your credibility.

    ReplyDelete
  68. To all you idiots who think it is not right because they can't prove you were behind the wheel,

Who gets the ticket if your car is found double parked, parked in an illegal zone, at an expired meter?

    The OWNER does!!!!

Why should it be any different for a red light camera? They are all non moving violations. If you're so worried about getting a ticket because your friends or family are such douche bags who would not reimburse you for their mistake then you need to reevaluate who you loan your car to?

    ReplyDelete
  69. 1040,

Shut your pie hole. You are so ignorant I am guessing that you graduated from the KCMOSD. Or are your mom and dad cousins? Yes there are in fact 3 pictures and a video that you have access to should your vehicle violate the law. One of the front and back of the vehicle and a close up of the license plate on the rear of the video. I was caught and saw the video and pics of my vehicle in perfect clarity. If you don't believe anything than your own ignorance than I suggest you go run a red light for research.

    ReplyDelete
  70. There are many ignorant comments here. Its shocking how many people still can't comprehend this simple scheme - a scheme that trades true safety for profit. Fact is - when the ITE formula for determining minimum yellow times is legislated (as Georgia did) - almost ALL of these "red-light runners" are proven to not exist. Most are trapped by one or two tenths of a second into the quick red. As well - when the yellows are made adequate - Georgia experienced a 75 percent reduction in all types of intersection collisions. The majority were the result of the driving crisis created by the dilemma zone, produced by the short, profitable yellow. Now wise up people and be properly angry. Good luck tracy
