KANSAS CITY STILL OUT OF WORK

The KC Biz Journal notes that this town remains treading water in the midst of The ongoing Great Recession: The Kansas City-area unemployment rate fell back to 8.5 percent in October, the same rate as a year earlier, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Tuesday.

    Bernake's upper lip was quivering on 60 minutes as he explained that it'll be another 4-5 years before there is any dent made in the unemployment numbers. Of course he knows that even this thin sliver of optimism isn't true, but by then he'll be retired to some New England cottage, smoking a pipe and playing with his grandkids.
    Those jobs aren't coming back, the days of everyone who wants to work finding a job are OVER.

  2. I'm trying to be interested in this, but watching the video of the incredibily important Citizens' Association interviews is just too mesmerizing! And, of course, the Chamber's new chairman has promised "bold and courageous" leadership, and starts by committing to spending $1 million on the "save the e-tax" campaign.
    Don't hear much about jobs by any local folks who could actually make a difference. Guess they have better things to do.

  5. The republicans control the house, so i figured there would already be a chicken in every pot... Wait, oh thats right, they caused this damn recession by passing medicare part d, two major wars and cutting taxes for the wealthy. Thanks fellas.
