Just as TKC predicted . . . Deb Hermann won the Forward Kansas City endorsement this evening.
This is an important victory in as much that it demonstrates Mayor Funky doesn't even have a base of support North of the River. Also, it shows that Hermann can play under pressure and her win was essential in moving her campaign forward.
Remember the new ethics rules have changed the Kansas City political landscape and Forward Kansas City is one of the few local groups with their own supply of cash -- So they don't have to deal with complex donation schemes from politicos.
Again, all of the candidates sought the endorsement and if it "means nothing" then they wouldn't have shown up in the first place . . . The Northland endorsement is a big deal -- And Deb won.
More details later . . . Developing.
Burke still got Citizens.
ReplyDeleteburke can have Citizens... after all, he bought it.
ReplyDeleteWell, at least he could afford it. Deb has put very little of her own money into her campaign. Mike and Henry at least have deep personal pockets.
ReplyDeleteif you cant raise enough money to run your own race and you have delve deep into your own pockets it means your other monied support isn't there. It's a weak candidate who has to finance himself. Deb is raising from multiple sources and getting more every day. She picked up the endorsement that shored up her base, and she is making people south of the river impressed, too. She's on a roll... our next Mayor...Deb Hermann.
ReplyDeleteThe way Burke raped and pillaged the Port Authority coffers, it's no wonder he has some cash for a race.
ReplyDeleteTEE, get some nice pictures of her. You have kazillions of The moron and his wife.
ReplyDeleteSo do better!
How long has she been on City Council? The name , Forward Kansas City, is laughable. She is a huge part of the reason this city is so fucked up! She has been on a council that has moved KC BACKWARDS!
ReplyDelete11:49, so I assume you will be filing to run very soon. After all, I'm sure you wouldn't fuck up KC...Dumbass.
ReplyDeleteMost people don't vote. Kansas City can't do any better. This sucks.
ReplyDeleteI agree with 11:49. So Herman will carry the Northland. So what?? She may have had a good fundraiser at The Well according to Tony, but honestly, what does that mean? So Burke lost. Who cares? Deb will get the Northland and the south of the river politicos, but she can't compete with Funk. Be critical of Gloria all you want, ordinary people are watching him on YouTube, and even if they aren't, they will still vote for him because they are good people and that can be seen by very ordinary folks.
ReplyDeleteDeb and Burke spilt the Northland with Funk. They all lose
ReplyDeleteFunk and Sly in the final. Bank it.
ReplyDeleteActually, this endoresement was in the bag from the beginning.
ReplyDeleteAnd isn't it odd that a city like KCMO, which is always whining about regionalism and getting money from Kansas, is as parochial as it comes within its own borders.
The northland versus south of the river, versus the east side, versus the westdie.
Maybe one of these candidates will offer some vision and ideas to try to get people to work together.
With the e-tax vote coming, there's not much time left.
"just as tkc predicted..."
ReplyDeletethere you go again with your impersonation of nostradamus. didn't take reading tea leaves to figure this one out. you're sooo prescient!
Like Citizen's you pay for this endorsement, it's just cheaper. Like Citizen's, the average voter has never heard of them. Like Citizen's their last candidate finished near the end of the pack.
ReplyDeleteSo, who cares anyway? This has nothing to do with who actually wins the election.
Good for Deb. I support Burke but do like Hermann's tenacity
ReplyDeleteWho gives a shit about these endorsements anyway? Is there a legion of bot-like voters who blindly follow whatever some hoity toity bunch of Mission Hills types says?
ReplyDeleteBecause I don't.
