RATHER AWESOME TKC TIPSTERS TELL US THAT HOLSMAN HAS A LOT OF FOLKS ENCOURAGING HIM TO RUN FOR THE CITY COUNCIL SEAT LEFT EMPTY BY CATHY JOLLY AND HER QUITTING!!!
This would be the second time that Holsman takes Jolly's place. She preceded him in his current MO Rep. spot.
Count Missouri Dems in Holsman's favor. Also, let's nor forget he had a successful Urban Farming Bill pass this year AND a valiant effort to stop Chiefs blackouts.
So far, he's one of the few State Reps. with a real wiki page.

ReplyDeleteJason has to make a decision NOW if he is going to run and if so drop out of the State Rep race. If he tries to be coy about running for re-election in November and then turns around to run for Council, he cannot win that citywide race. Voters will see him as an opportunist not really caring about the public.

ReplyDeleteJason Holsman is a very hard-working State rep who has an impressive legislative record considering his party is in the minority.
ReplyDeleteHolsman has done a great job for us in Jefferson City. As a constituent I have always found him easy to reach and very responsive. I hope he does run for the council to replace Cathy. South Kansas City has become a forgotten area lately and we could use a good shot in the arm like Jason to help us work through those issues.
ReplyDeleteHe did not get my vote when he ran against Jerry Young in the primary 4 years ago, but he has more than earned it over the past 4 years.
I agree with radioman, it is a shame that hooded figures can come out and make slanderous statements against someone without consequence. He is young, energetic and smart. That is what matters, not some crap thrown out by someone unwilling to make themselves known.
Jason chases constituents, not skirts. He likes to talk to people he meets and learn about them and their lives.

I hope he is Bill Clinton! All of his potential opponents posting anonymously leads me to believe he might be. If we can get away from the "politics of personal attack", he is a great Rep, and if he can bring his "get stuff done" attitude to city hall we will all be the better for it.

Maybe Mr Holsman can drive some change that Kansas City needs. With Democrats beinghte Minority he was able to get a bill passed.

ReplyDeleteHolsman has committed himself to re-election. It's too late to pull out of that race. If he did, the Democratic party committee for his district would choose someone to take his place.
ReplyDeleteThat election is in November. The municipal elections are early next year.
So, he would not be running for both seats at the same time. It is common for an elected official to run for higher office soon after being re-elected. Nothing dishonest about it at all.
I hope he does run for city council though I don't know why anyone would want to get into the middle of the mess kansas city is in currently.

Well i dont know if holsman is running or not but i have heard a lot of people around the city has seen his number come up on caller id. So i would say he is. Look for his little buddy in jefferson city mike talboy to help run his election. Talboy is a damn smart politician and those two are thick as thieves.
ReplyDeleteHolsman held a town hall meeting a few months ago that I attended. He has also sent out surveys and legislative update pamphlets. I'm pleasantly surprised to see a politician who is actually getting out there, having town-hall meetings and talking with his constituents. Some of the people we elect, we hardly ever hear from. As long as Holsman is out there getting to know his constituents and passing laws, I would vote for him for whatever office he ran for.

ReplyDeleteI've heard a bunch of good things about him. I don't live in his district so I don't know a lot about him except that he's been in the House of Representatives for a few years and has passed bills as a democrat in a republican controlled house. That's a pretty impressive feat. The way I see it, I can't think of anyone else from South Kansas City who would be better for the job of Councilman.

Holsman will win this race and the one for Major if he decides to move in either of these directions. He has some real potential and talent.

Some people run not because they are good in office, and not because they are likeable, but they run because they have nothing else to do. Kate, it's time to find another hobby and develop some personal relationships.
ReplyDeleteThere is only one credible threat to Holsman in the city council race, and that's me. I realize that sounds arrogant, but I know politics and I especially know this district. I am the only one who could beat Holsman or come damn near close. I have decided to sit this one out. It would not be worth the bare knuckled, scorched earth fight. And besides, people generally like Holsman. He has done some really good things for the area but has not gotten the recognition that he deserves. He is a work horse not show horse.
