TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY PARKS AND REC COMMISSIONER MEG CONGER RESIGNS FROM BOARD!!!
In terms of Civic Volunteerism, Kansas City has taken a HUGE loss today.
Before Mayor Funky's Term, most people didn't even know Kansas City had a Parks Board but through the Frances Semler Minutemen Debacle, Dog Park Complaining and Aggie Stackhaus Mudfest Mayhem . . . The profile of the Board has certainly been increased.
The latest:
NORTHLAND ADVOCATE MEG CONGER HAS RESIGNED AS A COMMISSIONER FROM THE KANSAS CITY PARS & REC BOARD!!!
Now, this is a huge loss given that Conger is one of the most professional and engaged members of the Board in stark contrast to the Aggie Stackhaus sideshow or Ajamu Webster's Black United Front Agenda. Conger's Northland connections and her ability to understand the concerns of the folks South of the River have made her an asset to all of Kansas City.
We're still looking for the reasons for her departure. However, RATHER AWESOME TKC TIPSTERS tell us that she's going to look at other opportunities in government and politics. And that catchphrase should be enough to keep some Northland Council folks on their toes.
Still, in the final analysis THIS IS YET ANOTHER SERIOUS SETBACK FOR MAYOR FUNKY!!! Remember that not so long ago Mayor Funky yelled and attacked members of the Parks Board in front of a reporter and even Semler complained that the Funkhouser Administration offered her little support.
In the last days of Kansas City's Funky era . . . It's a shame that great local volunteers are parting company with this town.

It's possible the Council will at this point decline consider any nominees proposed by Funkhouser at this point.
And by the way, as someone who just met Meg a few weeks ago; I can tell you she is smart, and has the City's best interests at heart.
I agree with Tony that Meg was good for the Parks Board. It would be great if she ran for the City Council, which is what I think Tony is trying to imply.
We need to replace that whole bunch currently sucking the wind our of KC's sails.
Council should ask for her back. It took nearly half of a year for Funk to replace Semler and in that time the North was unrepresented.
Maybe Frances Semler will come back. Need to get them illegals out of our parks.
Frances Semler said she's done with the Mayor a long time ago. I don't blame her.
If there are really so many illegal immigrants in the parks, maybe this would be a good time to appoint Benny Lee or Georgie Blackwood.
They could stimulate international trade by giving each illegal in the park a bottle of Gates or Bryant's BBQ sauce and an order form. Then have the illegals deported.
The new campaign slogan for the Funkhousers should be "Women and Children First!!"
This is sad news... Conger was great as a commissioner and a real advocate for Parks & Rec.
And nobody cares.

Meg Conger quit on Kansas City just like Frances Semler. You say she's a north land advocate Tony but even Funk says he wants to represent ALL of Kansas City.

Uh 9:51, I don't think so. Remember, the squid said Conger was too rich and elite to be a commissioner initially. And the park board paid so well, so I hardly think this issue is about money.
