Last night there was an earth shattering vote that wasn't covered at all by Kansas City media . . . Thanks to rather AWESOME TKC TIPSTERS lighting up my phone via text messages I'm happy to be the first media outlet to break the story:
A CALL FOR THE RESIGNATION OF LOCAL 42 BOSS LOUIE WRIGHT EARNED A SURPRISING MAJORITY!!!
The vote was 72 to 28.
There's another vote tonight that will complete the process . . . Now, realize that this vote isn't binding BUT it's an important sign of frustration with the current leadership.
Pension mess reported by TKC are part of the litany of complaints that seem to be increasing exponentially.

ReplyDeleteAlas, Lesa Gonzales is vindicated. She fought fearlessly against the big bad union boss, Louie Wright to prevent the MAST merger and they called her crazy. Lesa and a few others spotted the iceberg ahead months earlier and now look...KARMA IS REAL! After 25 years in power, this has got to be a major blow to LW's ego. The vote is not binding, but I believe that the pressure will be to great for him to refuse to step down. KUDOS to you LESA!

ReplyDeleteHowever joyous this may seem, what does this really mean for the EMS workers that have been getting their asses handed to them day in and day out? City residency? Loss of jobs due to some new agenda to get them out once and for all from the promissed pension that is STILL nowhere to be seen? Hey fire guys...you loose to many of those EMS people that whine to much and you just might be finding yourselves running those dreaded EMS calls...

Has anyone else noticed that our new EMS service has doubled their formerly brilliant response times?

What's up with that?
The response times have gone down because the Fire Department in all their wisdom cut 200hrs of coverage a week that Mast provided. Mast was barely able to make times. What did they expect to happen? It might help solve some of the problems if the crews weren't going to NKC, Grandview, Liberty, and Gladstone to run non-emergency transfers that don't generate that much money and take a crew out of service for 2-3hrs.
ReplyDeleteThe sirens have always been like that but not many of the crews use it. The police also have it. I think they should use it more. People seems to hear it better than the regular one.

ReplyDeleteCorrection: Louie does NOT reign. In fact, he was so terrified of being lynched by his own members that he skipped tonights meeting rather than face the angry mob. His long-time friend Palmer chaired the meeting for him and ruled the "Resignation Request" motion out of order.
ReplyDeleteBut all of us who attended tonights meeting felt that the actions of the chair were too-little-too-late. The memberships message was already sent loud and clear to Louie Wright and his Business Agents; "You Are Done! We No Longer Trust You! We Want You Gone!"

Doug Hootie... You are no better than King Louie and his minions. The only thing you wanted at MAST was something to put on your resume. You didn't give a crap about the people of KC, the people who worked for MAST, or anything else, all you cared about was would it look good on a resume...
