Unacceptable.
Earlier this Summer, rain and crowds caused some damage to the grounds near the Liberty Memorial at Penn Valley Park and in the aftermath Aggie Stackhaus, a member of The Parks Board, talked a lot of trash.
Her overly dramatic comments were quoted across the city. "This is the straw that broke the camel's back. They have decimated and desecrated," she said.
Stackhouse was also quoted saying, “If people are going to come and use our park system, they’ve got to act like they have some manners. If they don’t have manners, they need to go somewhere else."
People organized against her, she took heat for her comments and she was lampooned in a really funny video.
So, this week The Kansas City Parks Board heard took comments from fans regarding the future of the hard rock festival.
TKC TIPSTERS dropped us a hit about a very shameful fact:
AGGIE STACKHAUS SKIPPED PUBLIC MEETINGS FOR ROCKFEST THIS WEEK AFTER HER HARSH CRITICISM OF FOLKS IN THE CROWD!!!
Basically . . .
PARKS BOARD MEMBER AGGIE STACKHAUS COULDN'T FACE THE MUSIC IN FRONT OF ROCKFEST FANS!!!
This is the worst kind of cowardice from a public official and a huge failure for local government. From what I heard, Rockfest fans from across the metro area and beyond gave up their time to show their support of this event. People from all walks of life showed up to offer their comments.
But the loudest critic has simply skipped out of these sessions so far.
Because it requires a Council Vote, Rockfest fans should know that Mayor Funky probably can't fire HIS APPOINTEE . . . But this episode is just another sign that politicos like Stackhaus assure that people remain disappointed with Kansas City.
I have to agree with Aggie on this...let RockFest take place in another park--like the riverfront.
ReplyDeleteNot a fair meeing to begin with. Let's get a bunch of Rockfest fans and see what they say, I bet they're unbiased! Why didn't the board have a functional meeting where they tried to at least appear objective and lay out all the possibilities for Rockfest and then determine the best location. Sounds like they (board) wanted to beat on Stackhouse too. Doesn't matter whether she's right or wrong, there was considerable dammage and it needed a real discussion, not a bunch of rock fans screaming for their concert.
ReplyDeleteIf she doesn't like it then maybe she should resign.
ReplyDeleteExcept for the fact that Funky has no backbone, why can't he fire Aggie Stackhaus from the Parks Board? She should not be given a voice in city politics. Everyone knows she is nuts, and the only thing she can be counted on is to watch out for her own crazy self-interests.

ReplyDeleteis a typical government queen bully...when FINALLY someone organizes against their power trip, they are exposed and dry up...
ReplyDeleteAggie Stackhaus SHOULD have stood her ground. Running away from people with different views is her standard mode of operation. When Charlotte Hill announced that she was running in 4th district Aggie Stackhaus immediately got Jim Rowland to run in her place. That was a cowardly act.
ReplyDeleteKeep Rockfest at Liberty Memorial.
What a bully! Aggie can dish it out, but she can't take it.
ReplyDeleteLiberty Memorial is the wrong location--have Rockfest at the RiverFront, or Swope...the memorial needs to be kept up and not messed up.
ReplyDeleteHave it in a pasture with cow pies like Woodstock. Preferably somewhere far from polite company.
ReplyDeleteTo bad Aggie backed down, Riverfront is a better choice.
ReplyDeleteNot suprising as she is a spineless bully who does act in her self interest. I wonder if she regrets blowing Funkhouser for the spot on the Parks Board. Man that must have been a heideous sight.
I bet all 7 of those Rockfest folks really scared her off.

As for this nugget...
Stackhouse was also quoted saying, “If people are going to come and use our park system, they’ve got to act like they have some manners. If they don’t have manners, they need to go somewhere else."
Does this mean that all the queers that use our city parks as their personal bath house have to start saying please when they proposition strangers or does it mean that they should stop giving out blowjobs in full view of children?
This needs to be clarified.
What a FRAU!!!! Ja!
ReplyDeleteAggie and the Co-mayors are attached at the hipp.(no dog park pun intended). They will go down together. They deserve each other.
ReplyDeleteRiverfront Park would be the wrong place for Rockfest since they'd destroy that place too, plus all the drunks will start diving into the river and probably a few will drown.
ReplyDeleteSwope Park has much more room for Rockfest. Put it there or elsewhere.
Looks like Aggie is headed down the same road of hate as the Squid.

ReplyDeleteOne of the myths that Stackhaus and the KC Star have shamelessly promoted is that Rockfest is held on the grounds of the Liberty Memorial.
It is not. It is held across the street in Penn Valley Park, and all the damage was contained to less than 5 percent of that huge park.
We can debate whether Penn Valley Park is the best location for Rockfest, but we can't have an honest debate until we get our facts straight
I'm all for moving Rockfest. The venue is too small and stunts its potential to compete with the likes of Bonnaroo and Coachella. The headlining bands are second tier at best. The parking is heinous. The surrounding neighborhood is unwelcoming to the festival.
ReplyDeleteI actually won't attend another Rockfest until it's moved to a more festival-friendly environment. Maybe then it can attract some big names worth seeing.
Aggie IS nuts.
ReplyDeleteAnd she is bellicose about who and what she doesn't like.
And she is very fat and ugly.
She and Gloria Squitiro were separated at birth.
Ignorant elitists commenting on this post are quite humorous. "Oh, let's whine and bitch because everyday folk are meeting up and having a good time with each other and enjoying music." What a collision of high intellects here. Yuppies galore.
