Jackson County's Fred Arbanas FOREVER!!!

Let's put things in perspective . . .

IF FRED ARBANAS WINS THIS UPCOMING ELECTION HE WILL HAVE MORE THAN 40 YEARS IN JACKSON COUNTY ELECTED OFFICE!!!

Discounting even voter apathy, this kind of institutional elected official is why term limits have taken hold.

Since 1972 Fred Arbanas has held a position at the County and most people still only remember his work with The Chiefs.

Irish Terry O'Riley has his critics and that's fine but Democracy is all about lesser evils . . .

AND AN ELECTED OFFICIAL GUARANTEED POLITICAL OFFICE FOREVER IS FAR WORSE THAN MOST OF THE EMPTY ALLEGATIONS LEVELED AT TERRY RILEY!!!

Just like so many folks, I've been waiting for indictments against Riley that have NEVER seemed to materialize. Riley beat the hyperbolic allegations over Perfect Output and so far there hasn't been anything substantial proven by his critics . . .

Meanwhile, arguing for Arbanas in office FOREVER is simply a disservice to local Democracy and maybe a glimpse that this town is more comfortable with the status quo than a Black dude taking power.

  1. Sanders has a lot riding on re-electing the incumbents who have serious opponents. He has had until now a County Legislature that stayed out of his way. Lose Fred, Henry Rizzo and Denny Waits and things will be much different in his second term. He withstand one loss, but all three would rock his world.

  2. Don't forget about Irish Terry's devastating overhand right.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, go watch "The Great White Hype" and thank me later.

  5. Need to remember when Arbanas started back in 72 nobody really wanted to be a Legislator. No power, no Glamour, nobody cared about them to be honest. Still not sure what they really do except fight with each other. They could get rid of the Jackson County Legislator's and nobody would miss them. So maybe he stuck around for the love of the county. Who knows why?

I thought Riley was Irish until I read he was a black dude!

  8. Tony, why do you insist on sucking up to Terry Riley? Watch the Finance and Audit committee meeting where Terry stumbled all over himself to deny, deny, deny any involvement with Perfect Output, BEFORE he was even accused of the wrongdoing that HE DID DO! Talk to other people who have worked with Riley and how he helps his pals get no-bid contracts. Speak to other council members who Riley has threatened. Get the facts, Tony!

Arbanas's winning (and he will) has nothing to do with KC liking the status quo and not wanting a black representative. It has everything to do with the quality of Arbanas's opponent, which is the lowest of the low.

Also, look at how long Terry Riley has been in elected office and there is a good case for term limits. Thank god he can't run for council again, but he has held other elected offices before. Given that he is younger than Arbanas, proportionally he might be even with Arbanas's stints in elected office.

Just because Riley hasn't been indicted (yet!) doesn't make him a good guy. Quit buying into the "poor Terry" line he feeds you, Tony.

  9. A friend of mine went to school with Terry at Southeast.

    He's known him for years.

He says Terry is just your average, everyday, snake oil salesman and con artist.

  10. This is getting real interesting down here at the County Courthouse because Fred Arbanas's aide Karen Conrad is going nuts over Terry Riley. She is shaking and looks like Hell.

Karen Conrad has been telling people that Fred Arbanas has a "secret plan" to use Ron Freeman (the token of all token Jackson County Black Republicans) to endorse Fred in the Democrat Primary. I guess this is supposed to pull support from "East of Troost," in Karen's twisted mind.

Who is next on Karen Conrad's list to endorse Arbanas?

    1. Sambo
    2. Mrs. Butterworth
    3. Aunt Jimima
    4. Mandingo
    5. Uncle Remus and Uncle Tom
    6. The Crows from Dumbo
    7. King Louie from The Jungle Book
    8. Amos
    9. Andy

  13. O'Neill is still upset about Riley using green, so please quit talking about this 'race' or he'll go Royster on you T.

  14. My sister has worked for hallmark for 35 yrs. Should she have to quit? If arbanas is not doing his job, don't vote for him. Riley needs to convince voters why he is the better candidate and not run his campaign on "too many years in office" . Also, how long has the young terry riley been in politics? Looks as if he is being a hypocrite. Arbanas still has my vote.

  17. Getting Republican endorsements in the Democratic Primary sounds pretty stupid, without regard for the race of the endorser.
