KANSAS CITY STANDS UP TO ARIZONA HATE!!! CITY COUNCIL RESOLUTION 100486 REBUKES ARIZONA SB 1070 UNANIMOUSLY!!!

Kansas City Resolution 100468 was sponsored by Council Ladies Beth Gottstein and Sharon Sanders Brooks. The measure is a stern rebuke against the racial profiling, animosity and hatred directed against Latinos in the wake of Arizona SB 1070.

KANSAS CITY DECLARES ITSELF NEITHER AFRAID OF THE FUTURE NOR OF BROWN PEOPLE WITH SUPPORT OF THIS RESOLUTION!!!

Seriously, this is a bold step and a brave move for the City Council. To me, this is also a rebuke against racial profiling that negatively impacts Latinos regardless of their documentation.

Council Lady Gottstein compared the Arizona Law to old school Segregation.

"When we see other legislation that could impact us, we need to act," Gottstein noted while encouraging Council Members to vote for her resolution.

Speaking of the Arizona Law, Sanders Brooks notes: "This would further allow racial profiling . . . We need to send a message."

THE KANSAS CITY VOTE AGAINST ARIZONA HATE WAS UNANIMOUS!!!

13-0

For just a brief second I'll allow myself a bit of pride in Kansas City -- Today this town truly declared itself an International City and unwilling to give into reactionary and divisive rhetoric that's currently sweeping the more backward parts of this nation.

PREVIOUSLY . . .

TKC EXCLUSIVE AND BREAKING NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY STANDS AGAINST ARIZONA RACIAL PROFILING!!! CITY COUNCIL SOON TO REBUKE ARIZONA SB 1070!!!

TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! REACTIONARY RAGE AGAINST PROPOSED KANSAS CITY COUNCIL ARIZONA SB 1070 REBUKE HAS BEEN COMPLETELY IMPOTENT!!!

  1. KCMO City Council shows, once again, just how stupid it is. The Arizona law, that they obvioulsy haven't read, is not about racial profiling. It's about enforcing the law.
I guess I won't be shopping in KCMO if this is how stupid they are going to be.

  2. I always find it telling when someone only claims pride in their city or country after they get what they want. Regardless of where you are on this issue, the KCMO language does not accurately reflect the Arizona law. Also, I didn't see the part where the KCMO resolution offered a solution to the problem. Can someone point that part out to me?

    ReplyDelete
  3. I'm proud that once, just this once, Kansas City is giving the appearance of NOT being full of rednecks and dumbasses, and is at least appearing to do the right thing.

I am just a bit saddened that KCMO passed this resolution. I would like to see just how far the US Supreme Court will uphold Arizona's law.
Just think if it is upheld.... every state, county, municipality and hamlet could create and enforce our own immigration laws.
Maybe then we would get a workable guest worker's program across this nation one area at a time!
    Careful, Arizona...

    ReplyDelete
  7. What a waste of time. The law is perfectly legal. What is wrong with enforcing an already existing FEDERAL law? The city council needs to concentrate on dealing with Kansas City, not Arizona. What are they going to do next - pass a resolution to stop all the murders in KCMO?? Truely embarrassing.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Umm, WTF are you talking about 3:59? Their is not many places to shop in KCMO that every burb in this city doesn't already have or they have more. Will 3:41 be missed....YES...

Because if the city council I think it should be illegal for people of KCMO to shop anywhere other then KCMO.

Will KCMO resedents me missed in OP, Independence, BS and LS....NO....

But I bet you'll miss OP Independence, BS and LS.

  9. Sorry, Tony. This is meaningless. A goverment of a minority city.

Try this in Johnson county or west Jxco where the white people live.

Even if they say OK, so what? It's meaningless. Until they commit dollars for the fight, against their white constituency, its just for public consumption!

Don't be cheering too loudly. It's NOT a commitment to anything! Illegal Mexicans still need to be deported! KCMO just wants the feds to do it!

Ain't you glad McCain didn't win! They'd already be GONE and the Mexican President would be busier than a cat with diarrhea in the desert, finding places for all those illegals we'd deported back to the southern edge of the border!

    ReplyDelete
  10. Yeah, imagine Mexico re-admitting 12 million of its own citizens back into its society! No jobs for them, a sudden stop of those millions or billions coming in through Western Union?

Talk about a national emergency! What's a Mexican president to do???

    ReplyDelete
  11. I do not mind who's in this country. I AM against violent crimes perpetrated by any person in our states. Take away the welfare state and the "illegals" will have much less of an incentive to cross the border. However, getting rid of the welfare state will NEVER happen. So, let's make sure we deal with the violent offenders.

  27. Sorry, radio. This resolution wasn't only directed at Arizona. It was also directed at Jefferson City.

Our council people want no part of an unfunded mandate to enforce federal immigration laws. There's enough crime for our cops to worry about in this state without having to check whether every person with a brown skin is a citizen.

What is wrong with enforcing an already existing FEDERAL law?

Because we have a federal government to enforce federal law. It is pathetic that so many Americans do not understand the Constitution. The Federal government is established to serve national interests, and state governments are established BY THE CONSTITUTION to protect local interests. Immigration is a national interest; therefore it falls to the Federal Government.

Where is states' rights? You only find it in Confederate Rhetoric and KKK Rants. States' Rights cannot be found in the Constitution. Citizens have rights and we extend those protections to non-citizens so that we are better than most countries. The federal and state governments have juristdictions/responisibilities.

As for El Bryan, people move out of this city because people like you hate and surrender to greed. People like you ignore civil rights while you deny civil justice. El Bryan, people like you are a sorry lot who are usually robbed by unregulated financial scams.

At least the vote was unanimous. I wasn't there and didn't see it but I'm pretty sure they just got it over with to placate the spics in town since it doesn't really mean anything significant and it will give the simple minded Mesicans a warm fuzzy feeling that they are actually important.

    NEXT!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Wow. I'm glad we solved all the more important issues in KCMO that we can waste time on crap like this. I'm glad that there's absolutely nothing more important happening in the city that the council can spend its precious time telling other people how to run the affairs of their states.

Will they be passing a resolution condemning the federal government for having an immigration policy that doesn't allow people to sneak into the country?

  42. It was a symbolic vote, but then symbols ARE important. The Council took the high ground, while most of these commentators have taken the low ground.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I think the council voted on it because it didn't cost them anything.

What Tony should be learning is that most of his readers aren't going to take this invasion lightly. Europe rolled over to the arabs but Americans won't be doing that.

he's on the wrong side of the invasion issue... and Joe Arse and the other six citizen Mexicans aren't enough to carry the day.

Don't think for a minute that many Americans with Mexican surnames arne't patriots. Look at their names among the war dead each week.

But THESE dirtclods... well I don't have an explanation why they appear be more loyal to their ethnicity than their country.

Most Americans just aren't that impressed with Mexico and its a place that we'd rather visit than move to.

Put another way, the closest I want to get to Mexico is maybe to have a few Taco Cabana franchises up here. But that's about it.

What is it about a KC blogger that promotes all things brown except the brown hot babes? I just don't get it.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Much ado about nothing . . . I agree with those who say the majority just voted to move on. Didn't take any time at all . . . now back to regularly scheduled programming.

  46. I am sponsoring a resolution to support a person's right to steal food to feed their family. I believe fundamentally that it is ok to break the law in human rights cases. I further believe that law enforcement of laws in these types of cases represents cold hearted government and not what Democrats stand for.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Ok so look hear people this law and how they are going about doing it is outrageous but understand that there has to be some kind of security against illegally entering this country. The way Arizona is handling this is just wrong; I’ve heard everything form leave our people alone, we built this country, we have rights and so on so I want to address those concerns. This country was built by nothing but immigrants because everyone here is an immigrant. “We have rights” yes and the USA have the right to enforce their laws to keep you out if you don’t abide by the rules and regulations of entering and becoming an American citizen. So when fighting this battle remember that the hundreds of thousands that cross the border is doing something illegal. I’m a Christian and my heart goes out to the many Latinos that are looking for a better way of life; for every person doing that there is three others that will reap havoc in America by way of dealing drugs, joining gangs and costing Tax payers millions upon millions of dollars by way of Health-Care, welfare and other entitlement programs. Being a Christian also tells me that I am to follow the laws of the government because God ordains the government until Government laws go against Gods law. Millions upon Millions also goes out of this country to help the families left in Mexico which puts us in another crazy situation. Then you have the Mexican president who didn’t deserve a standing ovation nor applause at all; why because he criticized America and our people clapped and apologized AGAIN!!!!!!! So where does that leave us? We are America land of the free we are all immigrants and everyone one is welcome AS LONG AS IT IS DONE LEGALLY! Being of Cuban decent I sympathize totally but I have a bigger picture to look at;

    1. How is all this affecting my family
    2. healthcare cost
    3. higher taxes
    4. safety issues
    5. division among black, brown & white in America
    6. Long term issues of our deficit and what it cost to fight this illegal immigration issue.
    7. I can go on and on but I hope you all understand where I’m coming from.
I am down for the fight but my fight is lest get a better system to help these beautiful people become citizens and work together on creating jobs so that they can pay taxes and be treated like they matter. We don’t need any vigilantes saying this is my country when half this country was stolen away from them in the first place. If you want separatism move back to your European Anglo Saxon country or what ever you call it.

pathetic that so many Americans do not understand the Constitution. Count yourself among them. You wrote: "Where is states' rights? You only find it in Confederate Rhetoric and KKK Rants. States' Rights cannot be found in the Constitution."
Wrong- I refer you to the Tenth Amendment.
Let's see if SCOTUS finds that authority for enforcement of immigration policy lies solely in the hands of the Federal government.
BTW, you might also consider that the Fed gov't is failing its responsibility under Article 4, Sec. 4, to protect the states from invasion, forcing AZ to defend itself.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Last part, in a lawsuit, AZ seek redress from SCOTUS for Feds failing its responsibility?

    Impeachable offence?

    ReplyDelete
  52. Kansas City is an American city, not an international city. The City Council and Mayor should be sent a message during the next election, that we will not tolerate their support of law breakers in this country. The City Council has voted unanimously to slap the face of Kansas City residents by supporting illegal immigrants in this country. SHAME ON YOU!

The Arizona law is about their safety. They have a right to pass laws that protect their citizens. Just because there are those who lack the backbone to stand up against these murderers, rapist, and drug dealers, doesn't mean we have to.
The Arizona law does not target latinas, it targets illegal immigrants. We can't help it if the majority of illegals are mexicans. If the majority of illegals were white germans, latinas would not have problem. They only have a problem with it because it's their race that's breaking our laws.

All those against the Arizona law are American haters. We understand that you want to see this country destroyed because we had the smarts to create such a great country. Just compare America with Mexico. IF Mexicans are so great, why do they have a shithole for a country? They see what Americans have created and want to leech off us. We cannot solve everyones problems, nor should we. Stay the hell in your own country and make a difference there.

I'm surprised Tony didn't jump on the fact that this pretty much sealed Mark Funkhousers chance for re-election. He has just snubbed his remaining supporters by siding with illegal immigrants.

Just for the record Tony, the U.S. Census does not contain the would brown people anywhere. If I'm not mistaken, Mexicans are considered white hispanic - you D-Bag

  54. One more thing. Somebody posted a piece suggesting that lower income LEGALS pay virtually the same in TAXES as illegals.

that may or may not be true of federal and state taxes, tho a huge number of lower income Americans pay no taxes, and for those not filing, yes they're paying their withholding as taxes where poor citizens are not.

But a great deal of the expense load of illegals does not show up on tax rolls at all. If they don't make much money EVER, they will never pay their share to educate their ninos. If they don't pay health insurance, the rest of us pay it, not through taxes but higher hospital fees for our OWN health care, reflected in OUR premiums.

If they use an inordinate amount of our prison and police resources, that too will not show up in their tax burdens.

I remain convinced that the road to citizenship should be DIFFICULT but doable. And the feds should immediately take them out of the shadows, identify them as workers in an ID theft preventative way.

They all need ID's and work permits and anybody caught without them after a 6 month crash registration period SHOULD be deported.

It's up to the federal braintrust to decide who should get what, but off the top of my head, ID's should be issued for parents of American citizens for starters, and anyone who has papers to prove their birth and origination. And anyone who has school records from when they were brought here by their parents. Arrival dates can be reasonably documented.

And those dates should account for credit incountry, so long as they learn English, take the usual immigration studies and tests and wait in line, at least as if they had applied on their incountry date. That would expedite a lot of citizenship and I have no problem with that.

So long as they learn English and their wages are taxed like the rest of us.

Why can't the braintrust of both political parties work this out instead of fostering all this divisive fingerpointing shit???

  55. Embarassed4KC5/30/10, 12:24 PM

IMO, anyone disagreeing with Arizona's law and making it an issue is comfortable race baiting and willing to play the race card any chance they get. These people see everything through race. Race, race, race. I also feel they are portraying law enforcement officials as racist and unfair. The men and women that combat the most awful criminals in our society willingly to die in the line of duty to protect and serve. What has happened to my America? I know as a fact the KCMO City Council has better things to do than mettle in Arizona's business. You all need to get your house in order KCMO! Until these clowns are voted out your city will continue to suffer!

  56. People must understand this for what it truly is: An election year vote-grab ploy. Have any of you ever lived in the South or Southwest? If so, then you would know there has been illegal immigration there for decades. So why now? Why does John McCain, who has been an Arizona politician for decades, suddenly have a problem with illegals? To get votes, plain and simple. Do you think it is a coincidence that the South has the highest number of illegals and the lowest wages in the U.S.? Our immigration policy has been not been enforced because corporations (and the politicians they own) want them working at their companies for lower wages and little or no benefits. Incidentally, these states have been run by Republican administrations for the most part so their indignation is pretty damn transparent if you ask me. Also pretty hard to sue said companies over injuries or failed payroll payments when you are here illegally. They are here because our gov't and corporations (I know, they are one and the same) wanted them here. Now, it is a good way to get some votes by looking like you want to crack down on them. I guarantee you once the elections are over, the politicians will forget about illegal immigrants. Not to mention the law in completely unenforceable.
