  6. Never believe any issue story from television.

They get their assignment in the 9 o'clock morning meeting, start the conventional 'research by Rolodex' at 10a, turn it by 11, take lunch and have the 1 or 2 interview soundbites shot and back to the station by 3p, written and edited by 5p, and aired at 6:05p; they call that JOURNALISM THESE DAYS!

It's Oiji-board news. Pay no attention. They're only filling time between commercials.

Moreover, you can't write a story interviewing one hospital-picked doctor and then quote common knowledge off the internet as "Doctors say....."

But TEEVEE does it every night! Misinforming their viewers while trying to get them to buy cars from their news sponsors!

  7. PS.. this story on TV has all the look of a reporter/producer/photographer writing and editing a story whose angle was decided during the 9am morning meeting, long before the story was shot.

A story that was not researched. Just one that showed the conventional thinking by the morning news director and producers.

KNOW THIS ABOUT TV. TV only plays CATCH UP. Not original research! You can't do original research in 4 hours!

They only seek to illustrate on video what others have already concluded. And when chosen at 9am meeting, delivered in a minute twenty, by 6pm.

Hopefully seasoned with a bit of conflict, which is as much of a spice for television news as garlic is for Italian food!

  9. 3:42.. well brought me a smile, but what was your point?

I simply suggest that journalists should get their noses out of their sources (cops'm bureocrats, and firemen's) asses and be as investigative as they do those who don't give them stories or sponsorships.

You disagree with that, bad boy? Explain your double standard.
