TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! ALL WHITE MUNICIPAL JUDGE PROSPECTS WILL SOON BE A KANSAS CITY POINT OF CONTENTION!!!

Just a quick guide for the future from the most well connected of all TKC TIPSTERS . . . By all accounts, the incoming crop of potential Municipal Judges is ALL WHITE . . . THIS STUNNING LACK OF DIVERSITY IS CAUSING A GREAT DEAL OF TENSION AMONG THE LEADERSHIP OF KANSAS CITY'S AFRICAN-AMERICAN COMMUNITY!!!
So, look for more people to speak to this issue in the immediate future. Of course there will be opportunists but there will also be quite a few people seriously dedicated to working toward an equitable, fair and diverse local judicial system.
The selection process has already been a point of contentions but when a respected local leader like Former Council dude and lawyer Ron Finley is rejected for a no name fledgling attorney . . . There is obviously something amiss and not much attention was paid to representing all of Kansas City.
Developing . . .
vigil?
ReplyDeleteAs a person long involved with the legal system (and NOT as a defendant!) it may not be politically correct to say this, but justice is best served by selecting the best candidate for the bench regardless of race. Affirmative action has no place in the judiciary. If equally-qualified minority candidates exist, they should be on the list. But diversity for diversity's sake, absent EQUAL qualifications, is not a worthy goal in this arena.
ReplyDelete8:49 are you telling me that Ron Finley, city councilman, chairm of the PIAC, member of the jackson county legislature and, oh yeah, former city prosecutor isn't more qualified than Brian Rounds, the former secretary for the board of police commissioners. Or the fat white lady who, literally, has done nothing.
ReplyDeleteThe only affirmative action in this case--is that program for white people.
8:49 is correct. It was MARTIN LUTHER KING who rightly said a person should be judged by their character, not their color.
ReplyDeleteHow really sad it is that Tony (who is no doubt a generally good guy) is still UNABLE to get this all-important point.
That said, it is surprising that no minority person was identified to be a candidate.
HOWEVER, anyone who has dealt with Ron Finley knows he is a remarkably offensive, mean-spirited person who delights in abusing those who are in a less powerful position than him. He is not worthy of such consideration.
If he were physically smaller, he could accurately be called a troll.
8:58 how about LuJuana Counts who ironically made the last panel for this position...but inexplicably was, this time, less qualified than three people who had never made the panel. MLK also was mindful that discrimination is alive and well, as it is today in KC.
ReplyDeletewhat is the ratio of black judges compared to the pct. of black residents? or if we are basing it on defendants we should have all black judges, maybe one offay for good measure.
ReplyDeleteThe last few appointments have been minorities or women. I think that it was time for a white dude. Also, consider that they were looking for a defense attorney and not a prosecuting one this time around. C'mon, tony, you will lose what little credibility you've gained if you scream 'racism' every time a white dude gets picked over a brown one.
ReplyDeleteI don't think Lajuana applied this time.
ReplyDeleteRight again T. This is gonna be a big deal.
ReplyDeleteActually Rounds is also a former prosecutor too.
ReplyDeleteAnd listening to Darla and Tony on kkkmbz talk about race is like seeing the movie Dumb and Dumber. Hard to believe both have communication schooling. Musta been junior college, or junior high. Not sure. Darla Jay is so naive to think there isn't white privilege today. She nevuh heard of DWB? Redlining. Tony actually touched on what racism is... when a white person thinks its better to be poor and white than poor and black. Wiki it.
ReplyDeleteYou need to learn how to spell.
ReplyDeleteFinley is an abusive ass; would make a lousy judge. So what if there are not minorities on every single panel? Jeez, can we just get a panel of decent candidates and then get the blasted council to pick one? Why does everything have to be turned into a racial issue?
ReplyDeleteAmen 11:30
ReplyDeleteRon sucks
