KC Star's human trafficking series wins 2009 Burton W. Marvin Kansas News Enterprise Award . . . Admittedly, it was a pretty great series that first saw on 60 minutes 5 years ago and then The New Yorker and probably half a dozen other East Coast papers in the late part of the last decade.

and this is exactly why they did this piece, too--so they could win an award.
ReplyDeleteAs I said, earlier here and on my own blog, they didn't cross town to the East side to do a much more important report on our own city and its murder rate but they went to South America to do one on human trafficking. And they didn't go out their back door to do an informative, more helpful piece on the state of residential and commercial real estate but, again, went out of the country to do a far safer piece on this.
Congratulations to The Star.
Now, could you cover our town--the one you live in and are named after--please?
