TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! P&L DISTRICT'S KEVIN BATTLE TOUTS ROLE AS "MAJOR SUPPORTER AND HOST" OF UPCOMING NAACP CONVENTION!!!

Last night Kevin Battle, chief operating officer of Power & Light District, made a bold statement about the future of the P&L District. Battle promised to be "major supporter and host" of the upcoming NAACP Convention.

Battle was given a gracious introduction by Henry E. Lyons of Olathe's NAACP who went out of his way to note that he didn't think Cordish was a "bad company" despite repeated instances and allegations of dress code discrimination.

I'm not sure if the crowd understood the impact of Battle's words related to the recent ruckus over a proposed march against the District's dress code policies. Then again, this move might compliment the opposition of a few African-American leaders to petitions and the proposed March against The P&L District.

In any event, Battle putting the P&L District at the forefront of welcoming the NAACP to Kansas City was a bold move and something that is worth noting.

  2. In other words, the NAACP has been purchased by the P & L District. What a fantastic PR move. Shut up and take the money!

  3. Looks like Cordish bought themselves some negros.

  4. Can they march regarding a discriminatory dress code if cordish got rid of the parts of the dress code that were being criticized?

  5. Nice move, Will Gregory. How much are you making off of this?

Many AA's have become more mainstream and support the P&L dress code. They don't like the influence of idiots anymore than white people do and many of these successful blacks enjoy the safety and atmosphere down there. This website likes to provoke and entertain but Tony get's it....don't let him fool you (with his race baiting bs).

  8. That is Kevin Battle saying that not the NAACP

  9. Ha ha ha - turns out Fletcher was right. Of course those guys sold out to cordish group anyone with a brain can figure that out. I am sure they sponsored a couple of hos for alvin brooks too in order for him to try to stop a protest.

  12. THE NAACP HAS NOT BROUGHT ON CORDISH AS A SPONSOR OF ITS CONVENTION AND KEVIN BATTLE DID NOT SAY THEY WERE THE HOSTS NOR DID HE SAY THEY WERE MAJOR SPONSORS. NOR HAVE ANY AGREEMENTS BEEN MADE BETWEEN THE NAACP AND CORDISH.

THAT IS A BLATANT LIE TONY!

  14. Anita, if that's you. Take it up with Kevin. I was there and reported exactly what he said. Steve Penn has it on tape.

    Sorry.

  15. won't be going.

  16. For the record, Anita Russell wasn't even in the audience last night. So how does she know what Battle said?

  17. There were other people from the KCMo. NAACP that were there. However, there is a difference than being a supporter and sponsor. Tony. You give the impression tht Cordish has purchased their way into the fold which simply is not true. I am a supporter of the NAACP and I have not given them a dime. Your slant and bias reporting on this matter truly shows on this one. By the way I WAS THERE AND THAT IS NOT WHAT HE SAID.

  18. Hope that money spends well. I was there and he said SPONSOR. Not supporter. I think Tony was being kind.

I suggest buying a Lincoln. They are choice.

  19. Not fair, there were many ways to interpret the statement and Tony took the most negative. I think the NAACP should open their books and show us there are no sponsorship deals or none of their members have taken money from the Cordish company. I know for a fact this is not the case.

  20. Why does the NAACP have to open their books and prove a point to Michael Fletcher? The NAACP had to commit a substantial amount of money to the national office. The entire amount was paid by the City of Kansas City. No other money has been committed because no other money is needed. Every now and then it is a good idea to know what you are talking about. Let's open Fletcher's books and see where he got the 35 g that he is putting into a meaningless campaign for the 3rd District.

  21. HAHA! OF course
