The effort to rip apart MAST is speeding up.
Why?
Because there's no data yet to demonstrate the move is a bad idea and incoming budget numbers would seriously thwart the City's progress on the plan.
Screwing with MAST is nothing less than fiscal suicide according to some of the most KICKASS TKC TIPSTERS.
NAMING SMOKEY DYER AS MAST "CEO" IS A MOVE THAT WOULD/SHOULD SIGNAL AN EMERGENCY AMONG CURRENT MAST WORKERS!!! THE ONLY REASON HE WOULD GO THERE IS TO CLEAN HOUSE!!!
And while so many KC folk love to watch executions . . . The result of this move would be KC Ambulance service getting seriously degraded. The "savings" that supporters of ripping apart MAST claim will come about is nothing more than an urban legend at this point.
Still . . . For the most part the Council has went along with the MAST Hostile Takeover and the move to hurry up and take on pensions and other costs is par for the course for so many elected officials more interested in politics rather than the financial well-being of KC or even this cowtown's health.
TKC Afternoon Update: I hate to say that the Star "confirms" my blogging which is much better than theirs . . . But Lynn Horsley just rehashed TKC news after she was finished having a big breakfast and checking local blogs: "Smokey Dyer poised to become MAST chief"

Smokey is yet another puppet whose strings are being controlled by the great puppetmaster Louis Wright. It's not just the MAST employees that are getting screwed, but all of the citizens of KCMO. Remember this when you go to the polls.

ReplyDeleteJust make sure the paychecks don't bounce and we still get our benefits. Other than that, few people really care who the CEO is as long as we are treated with respect and not viewed like some meat in the seat.
ReplyDeleteI love my job, but not the health problems that I've sustained because of it. I don't like the way things happened, and I don't like the steamroller, scorched earth approach that this was subjected to, but I think this will lead to better working conditions.
I am curious...does MAST pay Smokey 140,000 a year to be the CEO and the city pay him 146,000 to be the Fire Chief? Sweet deal!

ReplyDeleteI would bet it will save $140,000 a year. That is unless your Doug Hooten who received $200,000 for fixing nothing, and well over 1 million in four years. I would say the buck stops here but Doug took it.

ReplyDeleteFire suppression is down 20 percent in the last few years,Thus we have too many fire fighters on staff. MAST boss Chief Dyer has stated that non emergency transports will be curtailed... that is over 70% of MAST business and generates over $8 mil a year. We won't need so many people on the ambulances. Just who do you think will be shown the door? KCFD personnel or MAST morons?
