TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! CHECK OUT CLINTON ADAMS GIVING ORDERS TO CITY COUNCIL ON THE P&L DRESS CODE MESS!!!
I'm a fan of Kansas City Attorney Clinton Adams and I also like it when citizens can become part of the legislative process. Today, A KICKASS TKC TIPSTER sends a bit of documented proof the Clinton Adams has a strong hand in drafting P&L District legislation. Good for him. If they ever let me near City Hall, my only ambition is to repeal the ban on the 40oz. and maybe see if Cathy Jolly really wears a cheerleader uniform when Council is not in session.
Anyhoo . . . Some folks might find it disconcerting that Adams is giving marching orders to the Council but some consultation with the Citizenry isn't always a bad thing for Kansas City politicos. Without question, Adams brings a unique point of view to this discussion. Check out just a few of his statements:
"As drafted it is weak and needs teeth. I quickly drafted some revisions and submitted them to John and Beth when we thought they were going to vote last Thursday. Fortunately, it was held. My revised version is attached . . ."
And here's his money line: "Now we have more time to review the proposal and submit additional revisions for consideration . . ." Wait for it, here it is:
"Feel free to directly contact John and Beth, both of whom have been more engaged and effective on this matter than the African Americans on the council"
That's seems kinda cold.
Of course above is a copy of the resolution.
The "money shot" for this entire post is Adams drafting the legislation himself. I'm not sure how I feel about that . . . Again, it's nice for people to have a voice and access during this process . . . But there is also a question of objectivity and affiliation.
Also, because I'm a petty person, I lament the fact that there are no Latinos currently drafting resolutions and ordinances at City Hall . . . Mostly because the Mayor's assistant Crispin has his hands full with the Co-Mayor's feet. Meanwhile . . . For better or worse, folks from Kansas City's African-American community are taking the lead in P&L District discussions and impending Council Actions.
good stuff T.
ReplyDeletemoron - it's what the city's attorney is for, exactly this sort of advice. how old are you, 3?
ReplyDeleteThe African Americna City Council members...Could they be any more pathetic.
ReplyDeleteThere is no leadership in the African American community. Clinton and others will show leadership when they are getting paid, otherwise count them out.
ReplyDelete...your roosters should be able to tip you off on the common practice of development attorneys drafting ordinances for their own projects too. White goss, lathrop Gage...
ReplyDeleteClinton Adams?!?!?!? NO! NO! NO! My God NO!!! Clinton Adams of KCMSD mess? Clinton Adams of "here's a proposal to privatize WBE/MBE" just as long as CLINTON ADAMS gets a contract. Cauthen didn't buy his crap, why are you Tony? Don't be a jackass.
ReplyDeleteWho do you think drafts ordinances, and for that matter, state and federal law? People who want it changed! It sure isn't the governments' own lawyers, as they are typically focused on enforcing the laws as written. Who writes the first draft is not important. Who approved the final draft is.
ReplyDeleteJust curious, how do you believe ordinances and state legislation gets drafted? You don't have a clue and are surprised about Adams because the pols took Civics out of the curriculum 30 years ago.
ReplyDeleteFor your information, 90% of ordinances are drafted by the citizens through lobby or interst groups who retain lawyers who understand this process. TIF ordinances are almost always drafted by the developer through their attorneys.
We need more people like Adams who understand how important it is to be a participant in this democracy.
Who is Clinton Adams stalking on Facebook?
ReplyDeleteClinton Adams only does stuff that will benefit him or his sister Gwen of Urban League. Trust me, there will be a payoff down the road for his ilk. And he especially could care less about hispanics. It's only about BLACK BLACK BLACK for him. And yes, he hated Wayne Cauthen because he could not boss him around.
ReplyDeleteAnd so the failed shakedown continues... The council has already selected an agency to handle this function. So that means no no-bid, no-work contracts for Clinton Adams to provide "legal consultation" and to pay bills at his sister Gwen Grant's useless Urban League organization after all.
ReplyDeleteClinton Adams is a woman beater who should be in jail and Gwen Grant should have been replaced years ago because she does nothing but give the Urban League a bad name. Has anyone contacted the Missouri Bar and the KC and National Urban League's Boards of Directors to tell them about Grant and Adams' history of failed shakedowns of the likes of Ruth Bates, Wayne Cauthen, Anthony Amato, Eric Wesson, Cordish and even Funkhouser who they plotted against and trashed in the media when they didn't bite?
Gwen Grant is one of the highest paid Presidents of all Urban League chapters throughout the country yet has the least amount of programs and fundraising success. She also makes the Urban League look no better than Jesse Jackson's Rainbow PUSH and Al Sharpton's National Action Network because they serve no purpose but to line the pockets of and promote their leaders.
Adams is an attorney who can count his clients on his fingers because you see and hear these two causing trouble, meddling in city and school affairs moreso than improving the Urban League or practicing law. Clinton Adams and Gwen Grant need to do something more productive with their time that will actually benefit somebody besides themselves.
I was glad to see those Black men protesting Gwen Grant and hope they do it again soon. Grant and Adams don't "make a difference" in the community and should be stopped.

ReplyDeleteSomebody wake Tony up!
Capt. Spaulding is breaking news!

wow. comment spam!
ReplyDeleteAdams is insanely corrupt and does nothing for those he pretends to represent.
ReplyDeleteThis make perfect sense Beth and Jim Giles and Clinton all feeding off the public sure they all agree .
ReplyDeleteSome of these attacks against Admas and his sister seem more geared toward personal animus than the fact that the guy is at least trying to do something constructive. Maybe those of us who have never made a mistake or done anythig wrong should consider applauding good acts when they happen as opposed to trashing this dude for what he's done in the past.
ReplyDeleteclinton adams and gwen grant are still shaking down and bullying people so what are you talking about? they've pissed people off and that's why nobody suports them with the exception of a few likeminded crooks and criminals.
ReplyDeleteBelieve it when it is said that Grant will be trying to get a consultant fee after Rev. Howard says that blacks are still being turned away from places in the District. She needs the $200,000 they tried to shake Schulte down for in the private meeting at the Funk's house. Clinton is not doing this for the good of anyone but himself and his sister. It is disturbing that Adams controls that much of the council!
ReplyDeleteI make mistakes all the fucking time. I do not expect YOU to pay for them and I clean up! Clinton Adams is a grifter. He has all the time in the world to attend meetings and bully the people in the room. He is loud and abusive to those who do not see his way. He is full of crap.... which makes him perfect to lead the city council, as long as there is a contract for him in place!
ReplyDeleteouch.
ReplyDeleteI just wish he did something more productive than P&L.
most Black people don't care about the power and white district
ReplyDeleteThey care when they can't wear big baggy Ts and get in.
ReplyDelete@10:29 Good point.m But those are legitimate lawyers not second rate ambulance chasers like adams. Adams has never drafted and civil rights legislation. Actually they will open the door for lawsuits if they pass the ordinance because it means that HR is not doing their jobs.
