KC without the E-tax is unlivable

Helling: "It is not hyperbole to state that elimination of the earnings tax without replacement revenue could render the City of Kansas City unlivable," Kansas City told the Missouri auditor's office.

  1. Take away take home police cars and fuel and maybe the city can have some money for basic services.

As opposed to how livable it is now, with the Etax?

    Unlivable? Really?

What would happen? Would they turn off the fountains?

Maybe they would sack any Mayor who forced the city to pay out on lawsuits against him and his wife.

Do you think they would stop subsidizing billionaire sports team owners?

What about the millionaire developer giveaways? Would that stop if the E-Tax was abolished? Or maybe the city would be forced halt the big money out-of-town investors from getting huge tax breaks for their overpriced condos that only someone making over $100,000 can afford.

Do you think they would stop listening to pie-in-the-sky promises from developers from Baltimore who promise the Moon, but can't even deliver customers to their project without shooting thousands of dollars out of cannons? While at the same time they use the city as stormtroopers against local bars and restaurants and their local owners.

Maybe the city would have to stop hiring their buddies as consultants that cost taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars a year to help them make decisions that they should be able to figure out for themselves?

Would they stop subsidizing trash pickup and just make the residents in the city do what everyone else in the country has to do, pay for their own trash pickup?

Thanks Dave. Great insights. Why bother making elected and appointed officials accountable for their decisions on how to spend taxpayer money when we can just continue this tax instead?

How about we just have the Star can your ass and send you packing. Who knows, we just might get some of our 5% back with the money they're saving on your salary and benefits.

You do know that K.C. did just fine without an E-Tax just a few short years ago?\

    Dumbass!

  4. Do we get a snow plow if we repeal the e-tax?

  5. THERE IS NO WAY FOR LIFE TO GO ON WITHOUT THE E-TAX!!!

  6. I would trade a snow plow for the E-tax.

  7. I am assuming then that in lieu of the earnings tax, Kansas City residents and businesses will support an increase in the mill levy of their property taxes that funds the General Fund. It hasn't been increased since 1949. E-Tax or increased property taxes - one or the other.
