FINANCIAL FAILURE FOR MIKE SANDERS AND ALL OF JACKSON COUNTY!!!

So, it turns out that things aren't getting much better in Jackson County.

While Mike Sanders is working on a mass transit plan, fighting the endless drug war and, of course, making sure the Chiefs get their fare share of taxpayer cash . . . Jackson County's financial outlooks still looks screwed.
"Moody's Investors Service has downgraded Jackson County's credit rating on two debt obligations, and assigned a "negative outlook" to the county."
This bit of mismanagement puts hype about the Jackson County renaissance in perspective and also points to fact that PR that so many Jackson County politicos are circulating is mostly meaningless in light of this obvious financial mess.

  2. There is no bright future for any county that has a sales tax for sports stadiums and COMBAT. You cannot waste that much tax money without draining the economy of the county.

  3. Perhaps the county can hire Kim Carlos at some princessly sum for no particular reason. (Of course, her husband is a Fire Fighter and the county has some labor troubles with the Fight Fighters' Union and it could not hurt.)

  4. Does anyone remember the fellow who got up and said at a BiState II proposal meeting that the result of so much money going to an obviously slow return "investment" would eventually hurt the Counties bond rating?
Well I do and he was right it seems.

  5. It also doesn't help that the cities have TIFed away so much of the tax base.
