I'm pretty sure we're going to reach 100 murders very soon in Kansas City.
Meanwhile and an AWESOME TKC TIPSTER reports that this is happening:
I've been watching two plain-clothes cops and two motorcycle cops pull over motorists who fail to stop for the plain-clothes cops walking on the cross-walk at the power and white district, main street in front of H&R Block, between 13th and 14th Street.Interesting.
No sense catching crooks, solving or stopping murders along felony highway ( sb 71 by swope parkway to 57th street).
I guess it's a good use of 4 cops for a day.
However . . .
TRAFFIC SERIOUSLY HORRIBLE FOR PEDESTRIANS DOWNTOWN AND DRIVERS HAVE NO RESPECT FOR PEOPLE WALKING!!!
How bad is it?
Somebody is hit by a car not paying attention to pedestrian traffic everyday.
So . . . Police trying to encourage motorists to slow down for people walking is a good idea and definitely worth the time and effort. The only waste would be looking out for the constantly hurt feelings of KC Midtown Hippie Cycling Advocates.
We should enforce no laws until the day comes that eastside blacks stop killing each other.
ReplyDeleteSounds reasonable.
You people don't understand how prevalent these pedestrian hit and run events are, let alone the sheer number of people hit by cars all the time. It doesn't make the news because car vs pedestrian doesn't have the shock value of a drive by, but way more people are killed and injured in these events than murders.
ReplyDeleteThe type of person who will run down a pedestrian is exactly the same type of person that will rob you or kill you -- someone with no morals, no sense of decency and no respect for the law.
So don't pretend to know how do to a job you know nothing about.
NOT EXCLUSIVE

They had a news story showing a guy walking as a decoy and the police pulling people over, but I can't find that video. This was 2 days ago!
It was also on Chief Corwin's blog on Monday that they were going to use plain-clothes cops.
ReplyDeleteSo in theory, you think if we ticket more people for minor traffic/pedestrian violations, the murder rate will go down? My theory is the revenue for the city for such tickets will go up and lots of lawyers will make money. Let's see the KC statistics for the pedestrians killed in the past year. Does it match the murder rate? If the police have the manpower to run pedestrian stings then I guess they don't need any more manpower to run drug stings, prostitution stings, solve murders or increase patrols in high risk neighborhoods.
