MAYOR FUNKY SUSPENDS CAUTHEN!!! CITY MANAGER ESCORTED FROM BUILDING!!! HE GETS FIRED TODAY!!!

Heh . . . Good to see the Mayor fighting years old battles that he previously lost. In the grand scheme of things I guess this is progress for City Hall and it gives us something to talk about other than P&L District fail.

There are 6 City Council Signatures to fire Cauthen along with the Mayor's which will go down today around 3.

Troy Schulte, City Hall budget dude, is now interim City Manager . . . And, I'm guessing, will most likely remain so for the rest of Mayor Funky's term.

AND LET'S NOT FORGET WAYNE CAUTHEN'S HUGE BUYOUT THAT SHOULD SCREW THE CITY BUDGET AS WELL!!!

More . . . Check out Darla tonight were we'll talk about the whole hot mess today.

Developing . . .

    3. Today they worked together, sort of. Tomorrow they'll be breaking it off in each others ass. These are the same shit birds who just gave cauthen a fat pay raise and new contract, just to spite H R Funkenstuff. City hall is as fucked up as a soup sandwich.

      ReplyDelete
    4. Finally - some progress for KC! Bye Bye Wayne! Maybe now we can get real work done.

      ReplyDelete
    5. "as fucked up as a soup sandwich."

thanks, MM! as a KCMO resident for nearly 40 years, I sure needed that laugh today.

Troy Schulte is not our guy. He is Mr. Happy Talk. He lies to you and tells you exactly what you want to hear. Then he tells the next guy something completely different. He is true to Local 42. Thought I was crazy back when I said the fix was in to put Schulte in the Manger spot? Thought I had MAST too much on the brain? Everything I said is coming true today. Schulte is Local 42's dream manager. he will fall in line in a SNAP! God save us from ourselves.
      Dear Business leaders... HELP!!!@!@!!!!!!!!@@!!!~!~!!

      ReplyDelete
    7. Mangino is behind all of this.

      ReplyDelete
    8. Funkhouser should follow him right out the door. To the MAST employees who supported the city merger brace yourselves because you are about to get royally fucked.

      ReplyDelete
    9. I feel I can speak for the East Side as I am releaved that Cauthen is out - Because of him a great many programs have been cut (rehabs, development and new housing). We feel the effect of his governance and we don't like it! He re-directed our funding to downtown and the merchants do not want us out there! Why Wayne? He also spends thousands of dollars for outsiders to tell us how to do the same jobs that were being takencare of before he came to town, guess what - we did nto need those "consultants" to tell us how to develop our town, why do you think we are so backward? You underestimate us Waynes World, take your party back to Denver and your CIMO department with you!!

      ReplyDelete
    10. What will become of the Waynettes now that their sugar daddy is out the door? Who will Kimiko, Thalia, Tracie and the rest of the hoes in his harem run to now? Terry Riley to the rescue!!!!!

      ReplyDelete
    11. I think it goes through today.

      ReplyDelete
    12. Cauthen should have been gone a long, long time ago.

      ReplyDelete
    13. Maybe we should just quietly lock the doors to city hall and head for the air raid shelters. We are screwed. Plain and simply screwed. Troy Schulte?? Really? He is way too evasive for my tastes. I like the truth. I guess Deb Hermann doesn't want to run for mayor, nor Terry Riley. A vote from them for this mess is a vote against their candidacy.

      ReplyDelete
    14. The picture of Cauthen in the KC Star article is repulsive.

Turnabout is fair play... eh, Cauthen? Imagine that you did something so awful that you enabled the inept and feckless Funk to gather enough support to get rid of you.

And to think, had you helped out more with the recall effort, it would have been you carrying the Gruesome Twosome out of the building in handcuffs. Wow!

      ReplyDelete
    17. Funk wins reelection!!!

      ReplyDelete
    18. Hey Funk: look inward, dummy. You're the problem.

      ReplyDelete
    19. It is a Funkhouser nepotism charge or Funkhouser reelection, one or the other Kansas City.

      ReplyDelete
    20. Anyone else smell smudge sticks?

      ReplyDelete
    21. OMG... it's about frickin time this thug got the boot. This proves that Funk was right from the beginning and the only reason why Wayne "the office porn pushing pimp daddy" has been in this long was to spite Funkhouser. Wayne has funneled MILLIONS of dollars to his cronies in Denver and across state lines for the past couple years. What a putz. Funk has been vindicated... in your face Tony Cock-a-Roach!

      ReplyDelete
    22. Let's not forget, Funk tried to do this a year ago and the council through a hissy fit and then renewed the guy's contract.

The buy-out is on the hands of the city council on this one...

      ReplyDelete
    23. It's pretty sad that most of you are siding with Funk. He embodies everything that's wrong with the City. He is the reason we've lost all our momentum. He's the reason crime keeps rising. He's the reason the school district sucks. He's the reason citizens feel unserved. He's the reason citizens and businesses keep moving out of town. If Funk or any of the council cronies think they'll be reelected, they're insane.

    25. Although I don't like Funk. He is NOT the reason the school district sucks. The school district has sucked for decades and only gets worse with time. The school district's disfunction is the reason families who can afford to leave Kansas City for the suburbs.

      ReplyDelete
    26. Well who in their right mind would want to stay in KCMO with Funk in charge? Thus, he is the reason the school district still sucks.

      ReplyDelete
    27. "It's pretty sad that most of you are siding with Funk. He embodies everything that's wrong with the City. He is the reason we've lost all our momentum. He's the reason crime keeps rising." Damn straight we are siding with Funk. He embodies everything that's RIGHT with KC. Crime has gone DOWN... Crime committed by people running this city. This entire blog is nothing more than an Anti-Funk campaign no matter how good he's doing. You don't hear one peep about the corrupt City Manager and City Council. They get a pass when the evidence is thrown in Tony the Racist's face. Which means... this Hate Blog has no power over the Mayor or this city... it is irrelevant. No matter who made the decicion, the Funk get's blamed. Today he has been vindicated!!! The school district sucks, you morons, is because of affirmative action. They keep hiring unqualified supers. The School Board is another bunch of crooks. How the heal can you blame Funkhouser for the schools. No one has any creditability because you have no bases for your rants.

      ReplyDelete
    28. What is a shame is that Terry Riley infers racism with out saying it's racism. And this guy wants to be mayor?????

      ReplyDelete
    29. Riley has been playing the race card for how many years? It's what he does. Riley is a crook, and uses his scare tactics and brings out his "ghetto" gear - he can't win mayor. RIley is part of the problem. The committee switches were part of his grand plan to get even more power so he can pay off his friends - which he has been doing for years.

      ReplyDelete
    35. To all of the people talking about Funk..Please read the city ordinances/charter...the mayor is a figure head, he can veto things the city manager and city council pull through, but he can be over ruled by the city council..the power lies within the council and the city manager, the mayor for kc has no real power..so he is not the reason for the crime, schools (the school board)..etc..know how your city is ran before you comment people..wow i mean he sucks, but he is not the person in charge

There is a right and wrong way to conduct business and as usual he does things the wrong/backwards way. He is like a snake that slithers and leaves its slime where ever he slides.I can't respect a man like that...I can't respect this decision to fire Cauthen just because Funky has not made any good decisions so far.

      ReplyDelete
    38. Every city council member that voted to fire Cauthen will hear from the community. This is a poor damn and costly decision. Where did we get these so called leaders from. They suck! I'm really disappointed in Cathy Jolly, Cindy Circo, and Jan Marcanson.

    40. Interesting, Terry Riley is all up in arms over the city having a 60 million dollar deficit. All the other minority ' leaders' walked out because they did not get their way. Funny, money wasn't an issue when MAST was taken over! It is because their coffers are being filled with money from particular donors! Who cares about city money, when that happens?

Mind you all, most of the heroes mentioned above were the same irrational clowns who, after being prodded by the feckless, otherwise inept and hateful Funk A Dunk, voted to give the putrid Cauthen a three year extension on his contract. Because of the Council Clowns who did that particular act of municipal madness, we have had the putrid Cauthen around for a few extra years and we are going to have to give him a check while he gets the boot. And now, in the middle of a recession, in the midst of a budget shortfall, the same Council Clowns are going to have to work together to find a replacement for the putrid Cauthen. Yes it's good that he's gone (if he really is gone) but a more disciplined bunch of elected officials might have done this at a better time and with more planning as to who the next CM will be. That is unless they have in mind to make Chuck Eddy the new CM or hire yet another person from Big Jeff Roe's operation :( Or maybe they can move the Squid into the City Manager's Chair? Who knows what madness the selection process will bring?

      ReplyDelete
    64. What a "smart with the money" move Funk made today. He's really good at paying millions to former employees who will do no work for the city and who's abrupt removals kill morale.

Even better is the 180 shift by the City Council. They gave no cause for their change of heart. I guess it's so much fun to throw money into a black hole that they just couldn't help their fool selves. Great job ladies.

    76. Pshh... they money it will "cost" us to get rid of Wayne will more than be made up for by getting rid of his stupidity from City Hall. How many 100's of thousands of dollars has CIMO cost with all those consultant fees? The lady who commented about the 45 min wait to get her water turned on... That is a DIRECT result of Wayne forcing all Water Dept calls through the Action Center, and then not providing any increase in staff to them. Do you people realize that Wayne has shifted several City services onto the Water Dept budget? Household hazardous waste and street cleaning, to name a few. Now funded by your water bills, which are soon to go up! Idiocy. Just because some of you hate the Funk, doesn't mean you have to love Wayne. Call a turd a turd.

      ReplyDelete
    77. 2:59 Your comments and the east side are not true. CIMO got the projects off the shelf. 80. CIMO was corrupt and it was MILLIONS that went to consultants and Denver cronies. Troy Schulte is a great guy who will do a great job. The strong members of the council stood up and took action... after yesterday's report on the $60+ million DEFICIT that Wayne created by shifting money around and not making cuts, he deserved for that, and many other reasons, to be fired. The other members of the Council stank. Melba didn't even know what she was voting on! It's a GREAT day in KC!

    84. Did Beth vote in favor of the suspension?

      ReplyDelete
    85. Yes, she did. The six who signed the letter to suspend Cauthen are the three who voted with the mayor on this issue last time -- Hermann, Skaggs, and Johnson -- plus Gottstein, Marcason, and Circo.

      ReplyDelete
    86. Note to Ed Ford. You sat on the committee that hired Cauthen, a guy without any education in Public Administration and you had the nerve to question someone elses CV? Tell us why you hired a guy without one credit hour in PA and paid him an ungodly sum? The best CM the city has ever had? Surely you jest? The cost to buy out his contract falls on your head. At least the women had the guts to rectify their prior mistake. Move on.

      ReplyDelete
    87. The ladies will not "rectify their prior mistake" until they vote to recommend prosecution of Funkhouser on nepotism charges to the Attorney General.

      ReplyDelete
    88. Look at the salaries in Funky office next time you mention city manager. and then STFU

      ReplyDelete
    89. The City Council needs to look carefully about causes to fire Wayne Cauthen so that they can avoid a big pay-off. It shouldn't be too hard to find a myriad of reasons.....
      1) lots of procurement and contractual activities that violated City processes including Perfect Output, health insurance, and the ridiculous MAST takeover; 2) promotion of incompetents based on race (remember Stan Harris was City Engineer and responsible for these projects). He was promoted to PW Director even though his incompetence had been evidenced for too many years. And let's not forget the appointment of Judy Hadley to Commissioner of Revenue - she used City p-cards to make personal purchases not to mention other violations of City HR policies and Cauthen knew it and condoned it; 3) destruction of the morale of existing and former dedicated City employees. The writer who talked about last FY's purge of staff hit the nail on the head. People who had outstanding evaluations for years and who were depended on to provide the
City Council with valid information and creative solutions were 'let go for no reason and escorted out of the building' (how's it feel Wayne?). Don't forget there's still a potential multi-million dollar discrimination and retaliation lawsuit outstanding against the City, Troy Schulte, and Wayne Cauthen. It will be interesting to see if Troy spills what he knows about Wayne's decisions to clear himself and the City and resolve that.

No, I'd say that the City Council finally grew the cahones to do what needed to be done. How Troy steps in and handles things will prove whether or not he can move the City skillfully through this debacle. Hopefully he'll develop cahones too and stop telling everybody what they want to hear and make the hard decisions that need to be made without basing decisions on personalities and race.

    93. This city is screwed cause Troy is a hard line follower of local 42 and with a very costly MAST move into KCFD the $66 million shortfall will become reality and more quickly with Troy's implementation. Funk is really looking for reelection votes from 42 as well as $ too. Cauthen did have numerous problems but you can't refurbish a house by burning it down. Funk's moves make this city look like a little hick town squabbling and yelling like a bunch of 6 year olds while the rest of us are gonna pay, and pay dearly for it

    101. Just watched the Helling video on Prime Buzz. Check it out. During the gang interview with his Funkiness, watch Schmendrick behind him- he's shaking his head back and forth and alternately cradling his portfolio like a rag doll and then tapping the crap out of it. When Funk says the magic words "Absolutely no quid pro quo", Schmendrick does a fist pump worthy of a college game day. So what does this tell us? A) The communications director is a basket case of nerves as he prays his boss won't screw up the live answers and will stay on message(understandable for any communications person); B) "No quid pro quo" was a key part of the talking points- thus the celebration when the Mayor articulated it; C)If it's that big of a deal to deny it, perhaps the mayor doth protest too much? D) Schmendrick may need tranquilizers (or less caffeine); and E) definitely needs to learn to know where the cameras are,and to refrain from silly expressions like head shakes and frowns when he's in range and PLEASE- save the fist pumps for watching the video later. (Take notes from Mark S in the far background- check your smart phone, look somewhat interested in the interview but yet slightly disdainful of the idiot reporters.)
      How much does Schmendrick make?

      ReplyDelete
    102. Is that what that guy does? I remember him running around like a puppy that got into the Red Bull during council meetings this summer. He is especially wound during big council meetings, like the one that voted MAST into the fire department. And of course, this one.

This will be interesting to see how getting rid of Cauthen shakes up things down at City Hall. The city is in big trouble with money and Cauthen had a lot to do with that. Unfortunately, getting rid of him will not make it better in the short run for sure with that gianormous payout. And which city council members will pay at election time, the ones that voted to get rid of him, or the ones that voted not to get rid of him?
