Mainstream Music Blogging Fails In KC

Just for the record . . . Jason Harper, formerly of The Pitch, just might have been my favorite hipster in all of Kansas City.
But I couldn't help but noting that his most successful post was the one where he quit.
And this leads to the conclusion that there is a lot of opportunity for local music bloggers who know what they're doing . . . Given, that's a pretty exclusive club.
The rise of the blog in the music industry has a great media people filled with anxiety. And for Kansas City, I can't imagine that any mainstream media outlet can claim any more ACCESS to big name talent than anybody else with a list of numbers from clubs and other venues . . . And access is all that big media has to claim given that bloggers are often better writers and have much more eclectic tastes.
To wit, Bill Brownlee is probably the best music blogger in Kansas City. His two bloggy offerings are MUST READS for anybody in the local music biz.
Obviously, there is infinite room for competition but only from a competent local music enthusiast . . . And, again, that club is really small.
Still . . . It's an interesting time in this town when it comes to music because so many bands are bypassing the local media filter with their own online content offerings and so far there is only one local blogger who has even attempted to help Kansas City sift through garbage and get down to the two or three great things about the Kansas City music scene . . . Other than chunky groupies, of course.

Thanks for the props, Terry's Kansas City!
Bob Brownlee is indeed a good blogger. I would also encourage folks to peruse my blogroll at the Woeward Blog and suggest additions.
