Kansas City's Budget Mess And The Great Recession Thwart KCPD Response Time

NBC Action News reports that response times for the KCPD are MUCH HIGHER in light of recent budget cuts.
Police response times rose from 5.85 minutes in July to 6.19 minutes in September. July had a higher number of calls for service than September.
There's a bright side to all of this . . . Law Enforcement and most community leaders have yet to really figure out how to engender cooperation between some parts of Kansas City and the po-po . . . So there might not be a need to rush to the scene if nobody wants to talk in the aftermath of incidents that brought the cops out in the first place.

  1. The number of cops on the street hasn't changed, the problem is crime going up. I'm sure the concerned clergy have the answer. Light a candle and march it off.

  2. 35 seconds is "MUCH HIGHER"? Has darla talked you into shilling for men in uniform?

MUCH HIGHER woudl be going from 5 minutes to TEN minutes.

Ya know these are hard times... I had to put off buying a big screen TV and going someplace this year for a fall vacation. We stayed home.

Have you asked the po po why they don't talk to the cops? Youre right...slower response times gives witnesses another half minute to disappear before the first police car shows up.

Whatsa matter with these cops... Instead of all getting free food at McDonalds, maybe they could show up five minutes earlier...when the crime is happening! Otherwise, they're just standin around cleaning up the mess afterwards!

  4. They need more cars on the street to respond rather than sitting all day at the jewelery store north of the river.

  5. What difference does response time make? Nothing happens when they do show up. They can write the report two hours later.

  6. They're too busy hassling the drunks on the streets and wasting the time of the fire department that has to come clean up the streets.

  7. Just more excuses from the little boys and girls in blue. Next thing they're going to ask for more money.
