The next series of major moves by Mayor Funky could be the most stupid and ill-advised in his political career . . . And that's no small feat. Word to Gloria Squitiro.
Anyhoo . . . ONE OF THE MOST AMAZING TKC TIPSTERS provides the scoop so that we can all lament the sick, putrid, dying glow of the so-called Orange Revolution in its last days.
Here are the rumors circling around some of the dumbass Funky moves in store for Kansas City.
WORD IS MAYOR FUNKY WILL FIRE COUNCIL DUDE RUSS JOHNSON FROM THE TRANSPORTATION AND INFRASTRUCTURE COMMITTEE!!!
Why?
Like him or not, Johnson is one of the most competent Council dudes out there. Some say he has a brash style and needs to smooth out some of this rough edges . . . But there's no question he knows his stuff.
And, as chairman of the T&I Committee, Johnson did the Mayor's bidding when it came to the Light Rail letdown. So this isn't a dismissal based on a poor performance.
Nope, as always with our dimwit Mayor, it's purely political.
The talk around City Hall . . .
JEFF ROE'S OFFICE IS CALLING THE SHOTS AND WANTS RUSS JOHNSON GONE IN ORDER TO RUN A NORTHLAND SLATE OF CANDIDATES TO SWEEP MAYOR FUNKY INTO OFFICE!!!
We've talked about Roe's Northland slate before and now it looks as if it's finally taking shape.
I notice that Becky Nace is rather giddy on Facebook as of late and that's only one of my many indicators.
Believe it or not, this Funky mess gets even more interesting.
Who is in line to take over for Russ?
TKC TIPSTERS ARE SAYING THE GENTLEMAN AND SCHOLAR TERRY RILEY WILL SOON LEAD KANSAS CITY'S TRANSPORTATION AND INFRASTRUCTURE COMMITTEE!!!
So, folks who couldn't deal with Russ might really want to readjust their perceptions because Terry's style is completely different and comes from a different cultural perspective.
Worse than all this . . . Now there's even more depressing talk that Cindy Circo has a part to play in this Friday hot mess as well.
THE FIRE DEPARTMENT'S COUNCIL LADY CINDY CIRCO COULD MAKE HER WAY TO THE HEAD OF THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMITTEE!!!
And that's only good news for firefighters moonlighting construction jobs. But it seems as if the harsh feelings between Circo and Funkhouser might soon be put aside so that they can both focus on their devotion to union boss Louie Wright.
So . . . Shakeups are on the way . . . It should be fun to see how it all plays out. TKC readers know about this first thanks to AWESOME TKC TIPSTERS . . . And Kansas City's Mayor doesn't seem to be making any of his own decisions as Jeff Roe's office now seems to be calling the shots and should simply move their headquarters to City Hall given the fact that Co-Mayor Funky and Squitiro have gone on permanent vacation to Brookside.

Russ has done a remarkable job and now is the worst time to change T & I, especially with the EPA breathing down Water's neck, and the head of Water seemingly unable to handle it. We need a smart person as head of T & I, but now we get a Gentleman and a Scholar... thanks, Jeff Roe!
Becky will run 1st at large, with Jeff Roe's help. Hitching your wagon is a sure-fire way to lose Northland support. Plus, enough with the re-treads. I hope Cindy refuses the P&Z chairmanship out of principle.

Jeff Roe is in charge. Funk won't make a move without direct orders from Roe. If Gloria only knew what Jeff and Mark S. said about her -- she wouldn't be liking it one little bit. Gotta give Roe credit, he pulled Gloria away from the Funk.
Riley has swung a deal with Funk. Of course, he will screw him in the end too (pun intended). Riley isn't loyal to ANYONE!
Circo will take the bait and the chair position. As much as she protested Funk firing her; she'll screw Russ in a minute.
What is strange is how close Funk and Cauthen are right now. Anybody know what is going on?
Jeff Roe did put a lid and a leash on squit. He got her to shut the fuck up and leave people alone. He is a darn good animal trainer. I am sure funk'd had some sweaty moments at home when he was lying through his teeth, telling her that they were smoothing the way for her triumphant return to her rightful place in city hall. The B really thinks that she is in the loop, she sits on the Plaza keeping up with city hall stuff so she will not have to play "catch up" when she goes to her "little desk, a cubby hole really" right outside her freaky husband's office. Meanwhile funk'd can get some peace from her. He used to haul his tail to city hall on Saturdays when he was auditor just to get away from her.
Out of all of this mess I am glad to see that she has been shown to be worthless crap. Hey squit, have a nice breakdown.
I really do not see much difference between squit and Circo. Both a scheming idiots.
funk has about as much chance of another term as Jimmy Carter.
What is he trying to do? Goad Johnson into running for mayor? that might backfire on funk.
Funk should have replaced That toad Russ when he failed the Light Rail vote. It was Russ and his big mouth that went after Nutter and that is who pulled the money in to defeat it.
We would have Light Rail right now if it wasn't for Big mouth Russ.
Forget Roe he is digging himself a big deep hole. If his northland scene fails at all it will fail completely.
North of the river has a lot of smart people who see through the games that bottomfeeders play and they will vote against them.

Becky Nace is if not the most intelligent is one of the smartest women to have ever served at City Hall.
To have survived those years in the 5th after the Raytown School Board was like swimming in a shark tank.
Smart local politicos know to never underestimate her and she has an impressive following up North.
Look for her to be a huge player on the next Council.

He screwed her over, used her money to help Northland elections that had nothing to do with either City Hall or Becky Nace. She is better off wearing her "French Maid" costume and attracting male attention rather than be part of a huge field for Mayor. We will all lose if far too many people try to run for this open seat. We might just get another funkhouser.
The only people who give a shit about that idiot Roe are politicos and pundits although he shouldn't be underestimated either. A lot of self proclaimed "experts" will be sitting on sidelines in disbelief with what is about to happen....now and next year.

that's what i keep thinking - that if the people who ran for mayor last time REALLY gave a shit about this town, most of 'em would've dropped out, knowing they didn't have a snowball's chance in hell, and put their support to work for someone who really COULD be a good mayor for this cowtown.
ya know, i keep thinking that someday the people in the northland are gonna smarten up (probably by quitting drinking the water up there or whatever keeps 'em dumb) and secede from kcmo proper, creating their own rich, much-more-crime-free town, leaving us southlanders in the soup.
