TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! COUNCIL LADY CINDY CIRCO TALKS MAST WITH TKC!!!

This isn't ground breaking stuff but it features a rare bit of real reporting from TKC.

Over the weekend I had the pleasure of chatting with Council Lady Cindy Circo. Not only is the Council Lady hotter than I suspected in person . . . Man, I'm a sucker for white ladies . . . But she's also very approachable and friendly. I have her card and the name of her assistant. I was really surprised she was so nice to me after I've been calling her a dimwit on this blog for about a month.

Anyhoo . . . What she told me was important regarding the current Hostile Takeover of MAST by City Hall.

KANSAS CITY COUNCIL LADY CIRCO SAID THAT SHE HASN'T BEEN GETTING A LOT OF CALLS ON THE MAST TAKEOVER AND SHE WASN'T SURE IF HER CONSTITUENTS THOUGHT IT WAS AN IMPORTANT ISSUE!!!

Meanwhile, folks who want to keep MAST out of City Hall have been framing the debate as a critical struggle for the quality of Kansas City's healthcare.

My advice to the group is to get phone calls into Council People in order to let them know their constituents are watching. Much to my chagrin MAST supporters think media events are more important . . . Maybe they're right . . . But earlier TKC advice to lobby Council folks directly was pretty much ignored.

Meanwhile, I was just so impressed with Council Lady Circo's professionalism.

It was only later that somebody told me she had no idea who I was when we were talking thereby ruining any illusions I had about this blog providing TKC greater access. For better or worse, the best posts around this dump happen completely by accident.

Call the council? Maybe they will care, but this merger is all sewn up. Get the petitions signed. It will be forced onto the ballot because these asshole council members do not bother ASKING their residents. Have THEY reached out?

  3. So all the media hype over this issue didn't make the council members stop and scratch their heads and wonder what all the fuss was about?!?
Wow, I see holes in that story big enough to drive a firetruck through!
All of the testimony, all of the news coverage, all of the blogs?!?!
None of this caused these "dimwits" to think that this matter might warrant some deeper level of investigation, rather than a perfunctory request for information from a Firefighters Union boss, who is subsequently THE MOST interested party in this whole dabacle!
When we elect public officials, we do so with the understanding that, as our representatives, they will care enough to diligently seek out the opinions of their contstituents. After all, they ALL campaign on the premise that they will.
So now, it is up to us to spoon feed our council members our opinions on this issue? Since this MAST issue is "all sewn up" it seems a little late in the game for the council to be claiming ignorance.
So, we must start a phone campaign NOW, with the hopes that these council members will grow a conscience?!?
I need to move to Panama or Haiti where the politicos at least admit they are corrupt up front.

  6. If this was a purely financial decision, it would have been quashed a long time ago. What the council is saying is that, "The union has us backed up against the wall. They know we're a bunch of rubber stamp idiots that couldn't govern a bingo game. We're too scared to do our jobs without being able to blame constituents. If we can blame constituents, then I can pretend to have a backbone."

It works both ways. If the public is so much in favor of this, why aren't they calling and writing the city? We're about to engage in a multimillion dollar change, with no proven plan, and the arrogance of the council says, "Well, prove that you care! Go ahead and tell us this is a bad idea."

Sounds like if the public thought this was a good idea, they'd be all over it. Perhaps we can assume the silence is one of stupefied disgust.

Or maybe people are in support of it. I don't know. I don't care though. I live outside the city.

All I know is that on this blog, you only get the people who are obviously reciting union talking points, and angry mast people. It's pretty predictable. I'd like to see something else.

  7. Circo is speaking NONSENSE!!! (maybe she can't read?) I thought several of the local governmental entities (such as Platte County) had voiced their concerns to the council???? Didn't they get ANY of these messages??? They were from intellignet politicians who recognized the scam by Louie for what it was!!

The representatives of the citizens that MAST serves outside of KCMO proper need to attend the committee meetings and speak out against this!

  8. Tony, Lady Circo...it would be interesting to do a Sunshine request to get the information she has received on this matter. Including from union officials. If the politicos from the other communities want to contact the 'fringe' group that is trying to allow the citizens of KC a vote in this matter and they want to get involved, contact us at savemast09@att.net or call 816-210- 8262. If you are a citizen and need more information, you may also contact us.

There is a public forum at the Southeast Community center on September 18th. We will have information, petitions, and answer questions at that time.

  9. The forum is a great idea. I'm going to this one.

  10. MAST is doomed if Kansas City does nothing..

  11. I almost fell out of my chair when I read this. This is the same lady who said in the city council committee meeting not to believe things you read in blogs. Of course she had no idea who Tony was when she talked to him. As far as the issue of MAST, I agree with the other comments. How much do we have to spoon feed these reps? Sheesh.

The whole thing is ridiculously political. I wonder what the next step is if the full council passes Sharp's ordinance on Sept 10th?

    HEY CIRCO!!! WAKE UP!!! C-A-N Y-O-U H-E-A-R M-E??
This is a wrong MOVE. There are N-O S-A-V-I-N-G-S. NONE. NADA. The money angle is a lie. There are no savings. Troy Schulte knows this.
Are you getting your financial advice from him or funk'ed? Both are after the same end result... Cauthen forced out. Ask Louie Wright's Local 42....
