TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! MORE HILARIOUS HUMILIATION FOR THE KANSAS CITY STAR AND MIKE HENDRICKS!!!

It moderately annoys me when d-bags on the Internet try to CUT THIS BLOG AND A CRAP LOAD OF TKC READERS OUT OF A STORY WE STARTED!!!

Therefore . . . Let's review a bit of recent history.

Heroically, The Bad Pitch Blog documented KC Star columnist Mike Hendricks acting like a douchebag online. They even had the guts and the wisdom to link this humble blog who has more Hendricks background than anybody.

TKC picked up the story and earned more then 20k hits in one day, a helluva lot of discussion and caused the story to go national.

From there it gets fun . . .

From there Bottomline Communications picked up the story and even quotes Billionare Mark Cuban's blog on the subject of Star columnist embarrassment.

But misinformed celebrity ranting isn't the most important aspect of Hendricks fail.

ONLINE JOURNALISM INSTITUTE POYNTER ONLINE EXAMINED THE EMBARRASSING DETAILS OF A JOB SEARCH GONE WRONG BY MIKE HENDRICKS!!!

So much for claims that Hendricks coming unhinged wasn't newsworthy.

Overall the Poynter piece was sort of a snooze-fest except for the pouty response from Hendricks.

"Hendricks acknowledged that the tone of his note was arrogant. And he's not sorry he sent it. "I make no apologies for the letters I sent," he said. "While the Bad Pitch Blog seems to be offended by my remarks, what I said was, while candid, a reflection of my feeling that newspaper work qualifies one to work in the field of public relations."

Hendricks found out about the blog post after looking up his name on Google's blog search. He then contacted Ernzen, and later her boss, to express his frustration that the exchange had been made public. He also notified his editor at The Kansas City Star, Jesse Barker, about what had happened . . .

When Hendricks applies for future jobs, he won't be as trusting. "I think it's like the 'X-Files'; trust no one," he said. "I'm tired of this idea of whatever you put up electronically could end up on someone's else's blog."

Hendricks said he has no plans to blog or write a column about what happened with his foray into public relations. The PR job, by the way, is still available.

"Mike and I talked," Barker said. "I was supportive and that was the end of it. We've moved on." The paper declined to comment further."

I'm not great about translating tone . . . Because I don't really care about other people . . . But from what I gather Poynter didn't really stand up from the beleaguered almost unemployed former newsie.

The humiliation gets even worse for Hendricks as the most widely read of all the bloggers involved in this newsie PR tragedy Jim Romenesko picked up the story.

WHILE THE STAR IS PUBLICLY SUPPORTING MIKE HENDRICKS AS ALL OF THE JOURNALISM WORLD LAUGHS AT THE D-BAG, BEHIND CLOSED DOORS SEVERAL LOCAL NEWSIES NOTE THAT MANAGEMETN IS PISSED AT THE NEARLY DOWNSIZED NEWSIE!!!

Again, I can only hope they finish the job and fire Hendricks . . . And, for those tempted to feel sorry for the columnist that's undoubtedly soon to be kicked to the curb . . .

THERE'S ALSO A GREAT DEAL OF GOSSIP FROM STAR INSIDERS REGARDING THE JUXTAPOSITION OF MIKE HENDRICKS AGAINST OTHER MINORITY METRO COLUMNISTS!!!

What does that mean? Figure it out for yourself but the chatter in the newsroom is that one KC Star writer claimed that Hendricks was safe in his job because his only competition came from minority metro columnists. The argument has been widely circulated for months and I know which d-bag made the vaguely racist claim but now he knows that I know and that's enough. Nevertheless, since the last metro white man (writing from JoCo) has taken a pay cut . . . Those arrogant predictions turned out to be just as incorrect as the idea that insulting a profession in a cover letter is the right way to get a job.

The bottom line in all of this is that once again TKC is proven correct and ahead of the curve in noting that a middle-class Kansas City white guy with a stunning sense of entitlement is a world-class creep . . . Now the rest of he nation is reaching the same conclusion I came to years earlier. Natch.
