TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! DISCRIMINATION LAWSUIT AGAINST KANSAS CITY FIRE DEPARTMENT REEMERGES!!!

Without question . . . Kansas City's Fire Department has a horrible record when it comes to diversity.

It's about to get worse.

We've got a lot to discuss on this topic today but let's start off with what KICKASS TKC TIPSERS have to say on the subject of a recurring lawsuit.

Remember not too long ago when an appeals court ruled that Inadequate Facilities and Gear equaled Sex Discrimination

KICKASS TKC TIPSTERS ARE SAYING THE KC FIRE DEPARTMENT IS UNDERGOING SOME SERIOUS QUESTIONS ABOUT LIVING UP THIS RULING!!!

City Council folks are being deposed on the subject and there are accusations that the Fire Department has still failed to live up to providing adequate accommodations for female firefighters even in their newer buildings . . . At the very least, expect another segment of the previous lawsuit to reemerge once again.

Developing . . .

  1. No comments yet!?! Are we all just burned out on the fire department and union 42? This is not insignificant since MAST has quite a few women working in the field as EMTs and paramedics. How would they be accomodated if FD takes over MAST's management and starts sticking ambulances in the fire houses?

To those of you who have feelings about women as firefighters: I have always felt that if women can pass the tests, esp. the physical test (and a real test, not a watered down version), they should be allowed to be a firefighter. You will never have as many women as men, since a realistic, rigorous test will screen out 80% of women (as well as many men!)and equal employment should never be the goal. Anyone who wears the uniform of the fire department (or the police department or the ambulance service for that matter) must be able, first and foremost, to do the job.

  2. I'm starting to understand why the media focuses on only one story at a time. This is a worthy topic too, but the Hendricks story is big for us interenerds...and tkc's had fifty comments! Thats more than I've ever seen before.

Readers/viewers, apparently can't handle two stories in one day. Today its about ethics in blogging. That's a topic that is a good one, and we've seen some very thoughtful posts on it here and on another blog.

i'm sure this one will also prove interesting on another day. Let's save the gender war for another day when the news is slower. grin.
