Kansas City, Kansas Albino Conference

I stumbled upon a press release for an upcoming conference and it looked interesting for some reason:
National Experts to Address Albino Group in KC: People with Albinism Gather to Learn and Share Experiences

Kansas City, Kan. July 28, 2009 -- Nationally and locally recognized speakers will be featured at the Kansas City NOAH Mini Conference, August 8, 2009 at the Kansas State School for the Blind in Kansas City, Kansas. Albinism is a rare genetic condition affecting approximately 1 out of every 17,000 people in the United States. This one-day event, sponsored by NOAH, the National Organization for Albinism and Hypopigmentation, provides parents of children with albinism and adults with the condition a rare opportunity to attend a comprehensive albinism information program close to home.
Even more interesting to me is the fact that Albinos are consistently and unfairly portrayed as evil in movies which is completely unfair and wrong and might explain why I'm going to be hiding under my bed at the thought of a local Albino gathering.

Again, that's not fair . . . One of my favorite actresses is an albino . . . I think

Recent pics of Julianne Moore in a bikini should make us a lot more tolerant of pale people . . . Or something. And I'm sure there's a more PC term than albino . . . I'll go check.
