Don't Ask, Don't Tell The Star about issues important to the LGBT community

One Kickass reader from the LGBT Community notices today that there's virtually no coverage of the recent Freedom to Serve Panel at the Truman Library
There was a young reporter for the Independence Examiner there yesterday and he filed a story. Makes you wonder about the Star and their lack of local reporters if the Examiner could cover this, but not the City's newspaper of record?
Another person attending the event wrote in . . .
The KC Star gave advance coverage of this event, but that was easy. Advance coverage is often just taken from the group's press releases - no actual reporting was done. When reporting was needed yesterday at the actual event, they were AWOL. I didn't see anyone that looked like they were from the Star, but even if someone was there, they didn't file a story. The Star spends more time on "StarGazing", Jenee, and FYI stories than they do on news reporting. Half or more of the front section is all Associated Press stories anyway. And the excellent Op/Ed piece they ran over the weekend on this event was written by a guest columnist, Harry Truman's grandson!
Both good points and further evidence that as The Star implodes there are several communities they are failing on their way out of biz.

Fucking faggot and dyke scum are not fit to wear the uniform of the United States, nor receive the Grace of God.

I hope that the Council realizes that and finalizes the contribution to the Life Changers ministry. Thank you for your creative and loyal service in the Lords name Councilwoman Circo.

Did you not learn this when you were preparing for your GED?

  8. Sanchez wrote an advance column based on a press release. Saved her ass on deadline to be given something to write about based on the thousands of dollars the people who sponsored the meeting spent to do it in Kansas City.

But again, all preliminary stuff from the Star based on press releases. Not actual on site reporting.

  9. Mutants and misfits really don't deserve a proper journalistic endeavor's attention. Leave that to the book writers and documentary film makers. Then they can be ignored without getting a bunch of real people upset.
