Blogger Passion, Faith and Doubt for Failing Mayor Funkhouser and Gloria Squitiro!!!

Dan from Gone Mild just earned a lot more respect from me . . . In this private e-mail he sent Gloria Squitiro that's now part of the public record thanks to her stupidity he makes a great case against her (ongoing) role as Co-Mayor.

Remember, what's most damaging about all of this is that it comes from one of the most ardent, forthright and public supporters of our Mayor.

Check it, the emphasis added is mine:

Gloria Squitiro: "I asked Dan for help today in an e-mail and he pulverized me with his respnose. It amazes me how easy it is for people to be mean, vicious, flat-out, mean.

Part of this e-mail:

"I don't think you fully appreciate the position that those people are in. While I know that you are constantly subjected to abuse and hatred at a level that I don't even want to think about, those of us on the outside have our own headaches and crosses to bear.

I grow tired of the insults that people throw at me because I am a Funk supporter. I get tired of people I respect rolling their eyes when I defend Funk, and I get tired of being accused of drinking the Kool-Aid. I'm not expecting sympathy from someone who is getting a whole lot worse, but all this makes it very difficult to be publicly supportive.

Most of the nonsense you want us to put an end to is surrounding your role in the office.

Now, you tell me that the whole thing was probably for nothing. If what you're saying is correct, I would have been a better servant for the city if I had cozied up to Jan Marcason and preserved my relationship with Beth Gottstein, because Mark is going to get tossed out of office by a political opportunist.

Everything on Mark's Agenda is getting sacrificed. If he sat down tomorrow with a few of the more reasonable and savvy councilpeople and agreed to allow you to step aside as you say you've tried several times, he could probably still put all this behind him and maybe even get them to agree to support him in firing Cauthen. THEN we could see some of the agenda we hoped for. If not, it sounds like we might just watch the two of you suffer through more public humiliation on your way to annihilation. It is like the 14 stations of the cross, knowing that there will be no Resurrection.

Maybe the people who are failing to get out and take a bullet for this administration are chickenshit, but you're asking them to stand up and be abused for something that you cannot even begin to explain, and will probably end in humiliation for all of us. That's a lot of sacrifice when, to those who don't understand that spiritual need you feel, it appears that the way to end all this nonsense is simply to stay at home, and not yell at airport cops."

Strong words, great points, wonderful references to faith and common sense . . . They come from somebody who still publicly supports Mayor Funky, Co-Mayor Squitiro & Co . . . Sadly, the words seem to be prophetic as Funkhouser's message has been lost and his so-called "Orange Revolution" is nothing more than a local punchline.
