The TKC Saturday Night Playlist!!! Only the Kansas City Blogosphere Stands Against Injustice and Economic Disparity!!!

Never before have I been so impressed by Kansas City's blogosphere when it comes to a subject that is too controversial for mainstream media pundits to tackle.

To wit . . .

THE KANSAS CITY BLOGOSPHERE WAS UNAFRAID TO PRODUCE FIRST CLASS WRITING ON THE SUBJECT OF A HIT-AND-RUN MURDERER SET FREE WITH A SLAP ON THE WRIST WHILE MAINSTREAM MEDIA COLUMNISTS PROVED TO BE COWARDS AND STAYED QUIET!!!

Look at The Star's opinion section today and there's nothing . . . Jason Whitlock wasn't out cruising chicks in $500 pants at the courtroom so he couldn't be bothered for an opinion and JeneƩ Osterheldt might have been shopping.

Meanwhile . . .

MoRage writes an epic and heartfelt post on the subject calling the situation "obscene and grossly unfair."

The Drift cuts to the chase: "Curtis Mertensmeyer is a convicted killer"

BlogKC was one of the first locals to label the story appropriately.

RDM's take is priceless: "We've got your MADD right here"

And Yancy Davis had some amazing insights in the comments of the first thread on the subject.

And while mainstream media can't be bothered to make a value judgment or take a stand on a subject that the people of Kansas City care about . . . Bloggers provide some excellent analysis and they're quickly making media pundits obsolete. It's not always about journalism but more often it's about speaking, typing and talking to the public regarding the reality of what's happening on local streets . . . In this case, a situation too scary for the local media to handle in which the rich are allowed to run down and kill people with their cars, flee the scene and then earn nothing more than a slap on the wrist.

Kansas City Blogger called this one correctly . . . Because of ad dollars, cultural logics, cowardice or whatever . . . Mainstream media just couldn't do the same. And it doesn't just stop there . . . Bloggers lead the way when it comes to talking about Conservative reactionary thought, Obama worship, taxpayer debacles like this Citadel Plaza deal, the School District, Eastside disparity and everything else in between

To wit, tonight's playlist is dedicated to the decline of mainstream pundits, the ongoing rise of bloggers, mico-bloggers and Internet publishers of all sorts.

Check it:

As always thank you for reading. Have a safe and fun weekend.

  4. Too bad Yancy's insights had nothing to do with what the email actually said.

    Otherwise those were great insights.

  5. You still talking about that shit? We're talking about a much bigger KC issue. Time to move on prick.

  6. If every KC blogger disappeared tomorrow morning, they would be missed until about noon. Then new bloggers would replace them all within a week or so. That is the nature of perfect competition - no training needed, not much IQ, very little cost to get started, and the loss of any or several of them goes unnoticed.

  7. anon 10:08....bitchboy carrying water for "kurtis the killer", do you work for the family of missionn hills shithead killers and perverts of justice??? yeah you do.

  8. Think about this:

Do you know how drunk you have to be and how fast you have to be going in order to sever someone's aorta, for God's sake and dislodge their leg from the rest of their body on Ward Parkway at 55th Street??

    Holy shit, people.

And for that, if you have money, if you're from Mission fucking Hills, Kansas and are loaded and "Sonny boy" went to Pembroke Hill, you spend 120 days in jail. And that's it?

Good God, if you're wealthy, it is a fucking BEE-YOU-TIFUL world, isn't it?

HAVE A GREAT FUCKING WEEKEND CURTIS "FUCKHEAD" MERTENSMEYER AND MR. AND MRS. MERTENSMEYER!

    You rich fucking pukes.

  10. Hopefully Curtis will be spending his fathers day being held down on the shower floor with a urine soaked sock stuffed into his mouth to muffle his cries, as a cocktail of semen, blood, and liquid fecal matter run down his leg as "team bubba" pass him around like a wench at a biker bar.

Mrs. Mertensmeyer to Curtis upon his release: "Honey, why do have womans breasts tattooed on your back?" For your answer, cut and paste the link below-

  13. "It's not about journalism . . ."

Tony, were you in the courtroom? The only reason you and your fellow bloggers have anything to comment on and rage about is because professional journalists were there, in the courtroom, to serve as the eyes and ears of the public.

Note that the bloggers you linked to aren't crowing about the irrelevance of the traditional media; they linked to and credited the source material. They get it. You don't.

    ReplyDelete
  14. professional journalists???? you mean cock suckin pantyboys and ho's that try and make news instead of report it??? suck my ass you traditional journalist puke!

  15. Perhaps the better lesson is that drinking until you can't walk or drive is stupid. Not funny or cute. Stupid.
Dry out KC and you might actually function well enough to make KC a better place.

  17. Has anybody compared this sentence to similar cases? Just wondering. The sentence is grossly unfair but is it possible this is the standard of our system? A lot of accustations have been thrown around but no comparison has been made to other cases. Opinion is one things and comparative facts are another. Anybody know how this case compares?

  18. Perhaps this demonstrates that we need public transportation like a rail line.

Unless you prefer to stay home at your computer and wack-off looking at pictures of naked people, like Tony.

    What an embarrassment to Rita.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Public rail line? How about it demonstrates a total lack of personal fucking responsibility. We have taxis and buses. People still drive drunk. What the fuck is a rail line going to do about that hasn't been done already?

    ReplyDelete
  20. I have a question that has never been answered in all the reportage on this: Was the drunken victim crossing the street with the light, and Mertensmeyer ran it and killed him, or was the victim jaywalking? If the latter, I think the victim bears a substantial responsibility for his own death.
