Nothing ever changes in Kansas City

During the City Council Legislative Session yesterday I thought there would be some kind of catharsis in the long standing struggle between enthusiastic development and fiscal responsibility in this cowtown. Both sides showed up ready to work and with a clear agenda. The lines were drawn in the sand, tough decisions were about to be made . . . But once again Kansas City was told to wait.

Kansas City's legacy is nothing more than eternal hesitation.

To wit, earlier this week MO Rage asked a great question about a disaster area in the middle of this town. He wondered how long a water main project would take.

I've been driving past the hot mess for a week now.



It's kind of like my daily reminder as to the reality on the streets of Kansas City.

Time after time there are promises from politicos about steel plates, "A City that works," along with phrases like "smart with the money."

But in the end . . .



ALL OF THE LIES OF LOCAL POLITICOS AMOUNT TO NOTHING BUT A HUGE HOLE IN THE MIDDLE OF KANSAS CITY RIGHT NEXT TO AN INTERSECTION RUN BY A MONEY MAKING RED LIGHT CAMERA!!!



And maybe that's why photo galleries of busty white women like Denise Milani might be more important than any kind of political insight in a town that has no leadership, no sense of direction and nothing to show for so much political scheming other than a horrible credit rating, screwed up finances and a gigantic hole in the ground in the middle of the City.
