For the past two weeks, there has been a rash of break-ins in Southeast Lee's Summit . . . Mostly due to Suburban laziness and a carefree, lackadaisical attitude that leaves possessions wide open and unlocked but I'm sure everyone blames minorities.

Are they really break-ins considering that most of these people left their doors wide open?
ReplyDeleteThat's one thing I never got when I lived in the suburbs. I noticed that the first thing people did when getting home was open their garage doors and leave them open all evening. On weekends, they would open them as soon as they woke up. But almost none of these people were working in their garages, they'd all go back inside or go elsewhere. It was very creepy. It was like some sort of bizarre suburban mating display.
We leave doors open because we can. We have police departments, not tax collectors. You can leave the lawn mower in the front yard and go in the back yard and it will still be there when you go back. You can leave your car in the driveway and the license sticker will still be there the next morning. Once in awhile an enterprising criminal drives out to the burbs but that requires stealing a car with enough gas to get there. Too much work for the poor underpriviledged.
ReplyDelete11:30 is right. I live in a part of Lees Summit that seems to be overrun with Section 8 fuckers, and even they are generally better behaved than the ghetto shitbags in KCMO.
ReplyDeleteI've left my garage door open overnight, windows open during the day, and while I don't encourage the practice, no ill has come.
Part of it is that when you call the police, they actually come. In minutes, not hours.
They don't let little shit slide, like KCMO. I don't know what it takes to get arrested in KCMO, but anyone who does get arrested in KCMO is pretty fucking stupid since even the cops are horribly lazy and let shit slide all the time.
The other factor about Lees Summit is the fact that people are armed out here. I was cleaning a handgun in my garage and my neighbor came by and was like, "oh yeah, I have a whole collection. So does the guy across the street and this guy and that guy."
It's a good place to live, so long as you work, pay taxes, and keep your shit clean. Because here, people give a shit about the world they inhabit, contrary to Independence or KCMO.
